People need to remember Freddy is like 28 and had one good 30 game stretch in the NHL. There probably isn’t a huge gap between Gaudreau and Rodrigues. - Victoro311
Yeah you're probably right. Erod might even be better/not suck as much....

Theyre good 13th forwards. Would happily take either deal. Not gonna get bent out of shape that we took the cheaper, less term one. |

Can’t help but think Pens are falling behind the rest of the division. Flyers are seriously improving their roster. Caps and Isles are likely already better too. Not sure there is anything the Pens can do about it either though. |

I don't know about seriously...they took steps forwards and backwards with each move IMO. |

I think Hex didn't clean out his desk when he took over for Rutherford and accidentally got his agenda mixed up with the one Rutherford made before he left.... |

Their most impactful move (Ristolanen) is a huge negative for the on-ice product. I do not give a poop about what the Flyers are doing. They suck worse than us even now when we’re at this era’s low point. It’s impressive, really. |

Flyers actively made their roster worse.
Carolina actively got worse.
Rangers actively got worse.

Because he's better? lol. I haven't compared the fancy stats, but just from the eye test he seemed to be much less of a passenger than ERod.
Also, given the Center issue with the Pens to start the season I would have gone with Freddy over ERod. |

Erod is a C too though I believe. I think he played a lot of C in Buffalo.

It’s hysterical that they even signed a goalie that was worse than both of their goalies last year lol |

Yeah, on the whole I think the Metro hasn’t really made too much of a splash this offseason, and the teams that did make some moves haven’t really done enough to separate themselves from the pack. |

Who wants to volunteer to explain to Dallas that they can only play 1 goalie in net at a time? |

For every good move Philly makes (Ellis), they make an even worse move (Risto). |

That Ian Cole deal is actually pretty fine. That would have been the type of contract I would have been looking to bring in if we did a complete tear down of the left side as a stop gap 2LD. |

Just saw a comment under the JFresh WAR thingy that he led all Dmen in PDO last season...so that could contribute to his higher than expected (by me) offense there. |

So far so good in the Metro. I'm kinda glad the Pens haven't made a terrible signing yet. A lot of these deals today are shocking with the cap being flat for the next few years. |
