This is not a "sky is falling" comment, but if the plan right now is to not be aggressive and just limp in, then I really don't see the point of re-signing Malkin and Letang. Why not just pack it up and start the rebuild?
I'd love to see Geno and Letang retire as Penguins, but ice a team that will barely compete for a playoff spot makes little sense to me. - Rinosaur

Relitigating E-Rod and Dom Simon is my personal Stanley Cup. Can we get Sheary in here to? - Victoro311
No, we actually appreciate the little dude. |

That's exactly what they should be doing. Pens have little cap space and few young prospects. Trade those two and hopefully get over payments on both. |

I don't agree. I think if done right they can still build a strong team that isn't so reliant on Sid and Geno.

Still some very good players available for us. Would love one of Danault, Saad, Kreji or Schwartz. Not sure if he is the guy, but Grubbauer is still unsigned.
For a Ceci replacement, I don't know who is available that would make sense.

Pens won the division last year amongst a bunch of injuries, I can't imagine them limping into the playoffs with teams like CAR, NYR and PHI actively getting worse. Pens still have cap room to spare.
Now will they compete for a cup? Probably not but Feds and I have been saying they won't be for about 2 years now, this is just Red Wings Demise v2 starring the Pittsburgh Penguins. |

It's all much easier said than done. I'm aware, but I would have done the Coleman signing.

But it’s too late to sell off and rebuild. The values are a lot lower than you think. Time to be patient hope for some quality moves and get lucky. |

After the season he had last year, I think you could get a pretty decent return for Letang! |

Spot on about this. We need to keep our top picks; the days of just throwing them into trades can't be done anymore. Especially, if this franchise wants to remain competitive in the future, which is a lot closer than we're probably willing to accept.

Yeah, better off just keeping him and let him walk at the end of the year or be more stupid and sign him to a four or five year extension. |

Signing him to an extension is the right move. He's not walking, has already said he wants to retire a Penguin numerous times. |

ERod and Simon! Let's get this party started! Hahaha woo
Now it's no secret I wasn't near as hard on ERod as most around here... But to give him a raise and also have lost McCann and Tanev, I don't know... I don't know... |
