Yeah, and I suspect the demand will go up once a few names come off the board. I think the biggest hold up has been Hextall is looking more for a hockey trade than a cap dump, so identifying a team that both needs Pettersson and has a player the Pens want probably makes things more difficult. - Rinosaur
I hope so, I am just concerned seeing all of the teams that I thought could use him filling their 2nd pair LD openings. I am going to hold out hope for now on Calgary wanting to replace Gio with Pettersson. They have Valakami, Kylington and Mackey for their 2nd & 3rd pairs but are those guys ready enough for a team that still wants to compete?
Mangipane would be a good replacement for McCann. Obviously there is the Lucic connection but I would be surprised if something like that happened. Monahan was also rumored to be on the block and while he is overpaid and overrated a bit, I'd love to find a way to grab him and shift Carter to RW. |

I think it's already confirmed Ceci is headed to Edmonton, no? - j.boyd919
I think just that there's interest. I personally haven't heard that it's a done deal.

Friedman blogged this last night, would indicate it’s done …
Ethan Bear: Not sure, but with Tyson Barrie, Evan Bouchard and Ceci in Edmonton, there could be something here. I like Bear, and so do a few teams. |

I thought he said he's in the mix, but not signed? I assume "in the mix" means talks are occurring.

He predicted him to sign there, then when discussing potential players who will be traded he wrote that in regards to Bear. If he went as far as to write that blurb, I’d say his “guess” of Ceci to Edm is highly educated.
Side note: who would of thought a year ago we’d be having this discussion lol |

There's a strong market for veteran 'D' in free agency: Word is that both Ian Cole and Cody Ceci will get north of $3M annually on their new contracts.
Ceci is leaning towards Edmonton, as
@FriedgeHNIC
and others have reported, on what's believed to be a four-year term. |

Teams keep trying to make this mythical 5D who’d be in the top 4 on any other team thing happen, and it’s almost always a bad investment. |

Yeah its nuts and with regards to those 2 guys, while I havent followed Cole closely since his departure, I was under the impression his play was trending downward each season for 3 or 4 now...I could be wrong there...and Ceci wasn't anything special last season IMO, he was just better than we anticipated haha.

How was Ceci for you guys? His numbers look decent last year, but I have always had a low opinion of him. Holland is continuing the rich tradition of brutal GM'ing in Edm. |

He preformed really well relative to his role. At over 3 million you’d want a guy that can definitely handle top 4 deployment, and I have doubts still that Ceci can do that consistently, but if the plan is to over pay for a guy you’re going to shelter to some extent or another, the on ice product can be productive. |

I'd take Ceci at 3 years $3M AAV but anything more on either is not going to end up great. Ceci will do about as well in Edmonton as he did in Toronto or Ottawa. Edmonton will have Barrie/Ceci/Bouchard on the right side after they trade away Bear. There is no monster minute eater there who can handle the tough matchups, so Ceci is going to be put in a shutdown role against tough competition on a group that plays no team defence and has no depth. It won't work out well. |

He definitely exceeded expectations. He was one of our more solid guys, but it also came down to how he was deployed.

I’m really starting to expect that nothing will change in Pitt except for maybe a 4th line or 3rd pairing plug. Gonna test these ahler’s this year I’m guessing. |

Yeah, part of me wonders if they're really just setting up for the end at this point and going to plug as best they can.

That's where I am at. I hope we're wrong this team needs a huge shake up. I dont see how you can roll with the same team what 3 yrs straight dropping in the 1st round? AHL'ers are going to change that in the bottom 6? |

Better than expected without question but if the Oil's plan is to give him big minutes, not so sure it will go well. I think in the right role he's worth what he was paid last season.

Yeah. That's a good trade for EDM. Foegele is trending in the right direction. I think he's exactly the type of guy the Pens could use.
