Players leaving for Canada for the off season should get vaccinated here before they go.
- Scoob

I am fully vaccinated and a Canadian citizen. I’ve only lived in the states 10 years. It’s business as normal in the states and has been for months but fly from let’s say Chicago to Calgary like I did last summer. Ghost down getting off the plane and I had to lie to them and tell me I was quarantining my entire trip. If you don’t live there full time, they don’t want you there. They can’t keep me up but they can hold me up at the boarder and slap me with a huge fined if I don’t follow the rules.

It is amazing how many of you discuss his shortcomings without a single word about his cost. Lets say he comes off the cap. You slot in a guy like Andreoff or Bunnaman there with that salary savings. You certainly dont get much more point production. You get more dependable 2 way play. At the cost of a much lower ceiling down the line.

Whatever it is, it matters very little to the club's fortunes. If I had to list 20 reasons why this roster is a poster child for gallant mediocrity, NP would rank about 15.

- PT21

Yes, that is NoPa's only saving grace, his low cost. Unlike for example when you get a piss poor season out of Hayes who is eating up about 9% of your cap space.

Hey look, you may not want to believe it, but I am telling you what I watched and what was said. That is why I said "IF TRUE" I would accommodate him. I have not seen any articles about this, just talk show banter. But the only reason I mentioned it is I have heard it more than once so where there is smoke ...

Not all coaches, and not as much as AV did this year. Cassidy does not do it as much for the Bruins for example.
- jd250

Were the Flyers as good as the Bruins I'm sure AV would've done it less, too.

It's something to do when things aren't going well, like twiddling your thumbs.

Which is nothing more than opinions from guys/gals who don't know any more about the situation than we do.

Someone mentioned that AV said we didn’t make the playoffs due to lack of talent. Now that’s a link I need to see. If he said anything like that, that says “this season wasn’t on me” and I’m sure each of us could come up with ten minutes of his own doing this season.

Google Nolan Patrick......there’s a article written by a guy for the hockey writers association....not a blogger. The article was written April 27th, 2021. Titled” Nolan Patrick in danger of Bust” label. It’s in there.

THANK YOU! I did read tis article and recall seeing it there as well, specifically this line
However, he had been involved in trade rumors leading up to the April 12 deadline and would reportedly welcome a change of scenery.

Not only stricter Covid conditions but they’re limited on any vaccines. The U.S is a richer contry, obviously. I’m in Michigan. My family and friends are in Canada. Outside of my parents, I haven’t seen anyone of real importance to me in 15 months. My bartender is currently my best friend.

A richer country? Has nothing to do with the vaccine issues. Simply we have have no manufacturing in our country for the vaccines and were forced to order from Us, European and Asian companies. The government here also never thought the vaccines would be ready before late 2021. Apparently they watched CNN as well. The vaccines have been ramped up and I think they have now said the entire country could be vaccinated by mid summer. Your bang on about more stricter conditions....our current stay at home order is on until May 20th....word is it will be extended till June.

It has everything to do with being a richer country. We have vaccines, Canada doesn’t because of money. It’s being produced quicker here because of money.

I suggest we forget about NoPa's draft position. The following 2 statements may both be true:
1. Nopa likely will never be a super/star.
2. Nopa may still be very much worth keeping in a reduced role.

Alleged hearsay at best. Reported by whom? Who said it?

Anyway, he's clearly a moveable piece. We shall see how it unfolds.

At a salary of 900 k or so next year....I’m not moving him unless it’s something similar coming back....a high draft pick who has struggled, but still has upside. I could care less if he’d welcome a change of scenery....I wouldn’t do him any favours....tell him if he wants out....give us a good year so we can recoup some of what we’ve lost. Again that’s the only spot I’ve seen it, but it’s not as if it’s being reported on a guys blog written from his parent’s basement.

I don’t have time to argue. If you believe Canada is based on what they did or didn’t know, it’s sad that an entire country would be so far behind the curb but in reality it always comes down to money. I can count on one hand on how many people are vaccinated, here is a real option.

After a disappointing season I will try to take away a couple positive things, instead of focusing on the bad. Farabee was a pleasant surprise and though it was a small sample size, I like what I saw from Allison and York. I would like to see Farabee and Allison on the same line next season. JVR has always had talent, but he has been a notoriously lazy player. This year, he actually put more effort into his 200 foot game. Hopefully he puts the same effort in next season?

Here's some wishes for the off season: NoPa, Lindblom and Frost get healthy again. Hart gets his game back. Somebody teaches NAK how to stay out of the penalty box.

I won't try to guess what moves Fletcher will make this summer, but I will keep my fingers crossed.

I know that AV will be around, but I would really like to see some changes to the bench coaches, but I'm sure that will never happen. We all know that Lappy was a warrior on the ice and the Flyers were loyal to him, but he seems to be in over his head as a coach. Enough already....

Thanks Bill for your blog and please keep us updated during the off season

Couturier broke out in his 7th season because that was the first season he was given significant PP time! In his first 6 season, Couts has 3 PP goals and 20 PP assists. In his 7th season Couts has 7 PP goals and 7 PP assists. Cout's O-zone starts (EV) have also dramatically improved over the past 3 seasons from 43% to 52%. NoPa's O-Zone starts (EV) has averaged 50% over his first 3 seasons. This is a huge factor to consider. NoPa has been given much more support for his offensive game in his first 3 seasons than Couturier got his first 6 seasons!
- jd250

While the PP has something to do with it the bigger part is development. Watch video of Coots and how he uses his size now and how he did back then. Look at his confidence in the O zone now. After Patrick's first 2 seasons everyone was waiting for him to take the next step, migraines hit, he was out and showed back up in the poop show season.

If Patrick played last season when the Flyers were the best team in hockey, would his game have been better? Would he have more confidence? He might not ever recover from this season but he surely deserves the chance.
