First car the wifey and I ever bought together was a little Honda Civic in the 1990s.

Damn, it was a good little car.

Ended up selling it to a friend when we moved to Boston. We moved back a few years later, and it was weird getting rides from my friend to hockey in my old car.

Gawd, I miss standard transmission.

- Atomic Wedgie

Hah! So was mine ... 1990 Civic DX Hatchback. It might still be my fave car I ever owned.

My Civic, Corolla CX5 and Altima were all very reliable.

Take care of most cars and they will be fine but I dont see the point in buying an American brand although I guess they are better now also?

- Aetherial

Not gonna lie, my 2010 ford escape v6 was a dream 7.5 years.
At 7.6 years it went down hill fast.
I bought a new vehicle last year.

This just up on Global News:

Trump looking to put troops near the Canada US border.
White House pushing for militarization of Canadian border.

Any theories as to why?

because the president is an idiot and has a black belt in deflection, wasting money and resources and ignoring facts

Somebody here on the 'buzz posted a white paper from some think tank about how driverless cars will fundamentally change society.

Like any of these papers, you have to take everything they say with a bag of salt, but it was still a pretty fascinating read. They crunched some numbers, and said that basically the cost of transportation will plummet, as you stop owning a car that you use 1% of the week.

People will stop buying cars, parts will dry up, millions of used cars will become useless - it painted a very interesting picture.

- Atomic Wedgie

People will likely walk more...
Cars will be about 90% electric and that is if they dont solve the range problem so Greenhouse gases go down huge.
Safety will be MUCH better
No more worrying about drinking and driving
No more worrying about door dings, or cleaning...
The car industry jobs will shift to fleet and infrastructure maintenance and management.
Some countries will see their wealth plummet
Far less cost in roads infrastructure and transportation becomes much more efficient

I would 100% do this, but the damn thing isn't plugged into an electrical outlet - the damn cord runs right into the franking furnace (the part where the gas flame is).

I'm not touching it.

I've called around for a couple more quotes.

- Atomic Wedgie

I understand.
I fixed something on mine years ago but my cousin who is a HVAC guy talked me through it. I would also not have tackled anything involved on my furnace by myself.

To stop his people escaping? We could build a wooden fence and have them pay for it.
- Drapz

Funny thing is Canada wanted the border closed in the first placed but agreed to wait and make a joint decision so Trump could save face.

You drive a Pilot?

I would love to own one but cant justify the cost with only 1 kid.

Boss has a Hylander Hybrid, also a fantastic car.

I am strongly considering the new Rav4 Plug-in Hybrid. 30+ mile electric range would cover nearly everything we do, even my commute since I can plug in at work!!

Also 300+ HP and a 0-60 under 6 seconds should be fun.

That vehicle is going to be expensive when they come out and there will be no such thing as haggling

Look at this. Creek in Etobicoke turns bright red. Rob Ford’s old drug cache must have leaked into it.

I'm interested in the Rav 4 Hybrid too, for when my van is done. Not sure if I'll go for the plugin or the reg. Hybrid. Will have to compare $.

My wife drives the small hatchback Prius C already. It's a fantastic little car that absolutely sips gas.

I have a trailhawk, love the car, just sold the wife's cherokee and gave her my trailhawk. Bought a plug in hybrid Honda Clarity. Super car, and a real hybrid not the bullsh!t kind that are heavily advertised. Has 100km range on pure electric. No worries about running out of power because there's a nice fuel efficient gas engine. A charge on the battery costs me $1.80 and I can go to Montreal on a tank. (about $14 at current gas prices) Car also qualifies for a federal tax grant of $5K, if you are in BC an extra $3K , in Quebec an extra $8K - Doug Ford does not believe in Climate Change so he scrapped the rebate.
