Why haven't we seen Matt Read or Kenny A'gostino up to help our PK? Malgin isn't helping at all.
Surely Kevin Gravel, a guy with NHL experience should get a look with Muzzin now out. We can't put out Sandin, Liljgren and Marincin for 17:00-20:00 minutes a night.
If Marner or Kap go down blocking a shot in the pk on top of our existing injuries, it will be ugly. - WendelClark82

So who are the 4? - RogerRoeper
We have (even if healthy)
(1) 1st pairing elite scorer who can't defend
(1) Decent scorer who can't defend
(1) #3/4 2-way guy
(2) Useless veterans who are liabilities
(3) Young players with <150gp
It doesn't scream playoff contender to me. Unless you disagree with my assessment of any of them |

On this day in NHL History: The Maple Leafs finally put names on jerseys.
Harold Ballard, fearing a loss in game program sales, decided to make both the names and the nameplates on the jerseys blue so that people in the stands couldn't read them.
The league fined him. - BINGO!
people now have NO IDEA how much of a disaster he was... kinda like Jerry Jones... thinking he was the GM... and his decisions were absolute crap.
the entire Borje Salming saga was very telling - McNamara signed the guy and Hammarstrom ...
then Ballard has the chance to sign Nilsson and Hedberg in 77/78 or thereabouts ... and he doesn't because he refuses to pay them ... off they go to the WHA.
all the while he(Ballard) in love with Salming ...
just one stupid thing after another... after another. |

Rielly is easily a top 10 D. stats indicate he can defend and helps the team a lot. Barrie is certainly an NHL D. |

I haven't found Malgin very impressive - which is why I figure he was demoted yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit soon, but perhaps see what he can contribute on the 4th line before doing so.
I think, as someone else pointed out, that Read is an AHL contract.
Agostino, Petan, Salomaki, Aberg, Bracco, Kossila, Wilson, Veronneau . . . none of these guys kill penalties - or at least not effectively. Brooks might be the best bet out of anyone in the AHL to offer any type of PK support, and he has no real NHL experience to stand on. |

Leafs have one more non emergency call up left.
Highly doubt they use it now.
Give Malgin time before you do that. |

Am I missing something? You can call up anyone from the AHL and send them back down again using the standard waiver rules without it being an emergency call-up, correct?
For instance Brooks, Bracco and Korshkov are still exempt from waivers, so as long as our roster is under 23 (it's at 22), we can call any of them up and send them back down without issue, correct?
If we called up Agostino, he would have to clear waivers to be reassigned to the Marlies.
