Personally I’m not pleased to be going to an election a year early, there are other issues that the NDP have pushed through that I wasn’t in favour of, so as a past supporter they have me on the fence, ready to fall to the other side.
- Makita

it would be nice if there's another minority government, leaving the election as the waste of time and money that we all know it is (without even talking about the hypocrisy of government policy re: pandemic.)

anyway, hopefully this election at least provides some new blood for the future. the best i can hope for is someone new (from any party) to come in with new ideas/perspective that is willing to be pragmatic. i won't hold my breath.

(on the plus??? side, i see that some people i graduated school with are running. it's never good to know how smart or not the people governing you really are.

Bullsh!t election.

All this does is expose the joke that the Liberal caucus has become. Wilkinson is not a leader and Jas Johal is gonna shiv him in about a month hoping to replace him.

This should get the NDP the majority they've been looking for but they would have gotten one next year anyway. The election after this one is the one they should worry about. They just made it come one year quicker.

Another election I'm not excited about.

Did you watch the video? Straight out of Trailer Park Boys. Unbelievable.

Both sides looked like they could use a good wash.

Thankfully they cancelled my train to Dartmouth with stops along the way to do work. There's a solid chance they'll send me by cab tomorrow to take my train back and i'll see all the carnage firsthand just like with Dorian.

Wow. The storm season is crazy out east.

Meanwhile, we create our own storms out here:

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says she’s had to have security in her home and has been targeted with death threats, along with abusive letters and phone calls to staff.

Yup, ice is the worst kind.

I can't believe people just can't accept Covid and act accordingly. If everyone had done this from the outset it would be over by now with possible travel restrictions to select few countries.

I have been considering a different party also, but, could never stoop low enough to vote for the conservative party of BC(BC Liberals), and the Greens have never put a legitimate candidate up here, so I will plug my nose when I vote NDP.

So the storm never really hit. I'm still not sure what happened.

I think the initial landing was similar to what they expected but the storm just kind of doubled in size and lost intensity.

Good for us, still glad I didn't work in it.

It's mind boggling how dumb/privileged people are. I've seen this way too many times here in Penticton this year. I think we get shut down again this fall because of these idiots.

Can Vantel's spy PM this to him;

"You are an angry, old man who explodes when no agrees with your chest-pumping ideas, theories or reasons. You are entertaining, on the other hand"

Looks to me like people are talking about politics and storms and not other posters, like the paranoid legion of grumpy old men think.

How long before we hear "this election should be cancelled or at the very least postponed until 2021 (or if they're brave/brazen enough until the "end" of the pandemic)?

(frank) him, he just needs to isolate for 14 days, remember it was him that downplayed the severity of the virus, so stand by your convictions Mr. President.

And there better not be any sympathy votes, hope Karma takes care of things.

It has to go through Congress and the Democrats control the house. The election must be on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November. It's the law.

"It's the law."
Oh, my sweet, innocent summer child!

Yes, it's the law but the executive branch has a lot of unilateral power and the only people who decide how the law is interpreted are the courts. It is the Supreme Court who will decide what is the law.

...And if you want to see partisanship at the highest judicial level, I refer you to Bush v. Gore. 5-4 decision and it went exactly down party lines.

"They" are setting up a contested election that will be challenged in court and are hoping to stack the bench so as to assure victory.

You're talking a recount vs moving an election in which votes have already been cast. It took a month to decide wether to recount or not and this election will have already been decided if it takes that long this time around.

It will certainly lead to a revolution of sorts if they begin overturning election results in order to hold it at a later date.

What I meant (somewhat tongue in cheek) is that it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that the Rs try to postpone the election. The obese orange god floated that trial balloon a couple of months ago. But, at the time, he was met with resistance by all sides. Even Mitch the turtle was against it at the time.

However, change the circumstances and add that they see a loss on the horizon and who knows what they would say now. I could see the Rs rally around the president if he proposed something like this now.

If they try to postpone or halt the electoral process they will do so outside of congress. Probably through an executive order.

And then it goes to the courts.

Will that happen? Probably not but a few months ago, I wouldn't have needed to add the 'probably.'

I still see them going to court afterward to try to disqualify mail in ballots. And those could be the difference in a few key states.

Biden needs a clear victory on election night to stem this river of BS.

I won't put anything past this regime, anything.

I do however believe there will be limits on what the american people will allow.

Also, I wish they would wait until after the election to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice. Not only do I think it's fair, I'd rather not give any reason to start packing the bench post election by the democrats. I can see why they'd do it considering the circumstances but it's another can of worms better left unopened.

alright guys. I am going to give this whole Canucks Warzone streaming thing a shot. I will coordinate with Golfing and Bloated and maybe "Vental" about going live with this sometime later next week. Bloated - let me know when you are good to go and we can maybe do this sooner depending on if you can get it installed and what not.
