Sorry for the poop show today.

No worries man, i'm actually making an effort to avoid them. It's not easy. I will pounce when it's too good to pass up though.

Just out of curiosity, if someone were to agree with Marwood's minions, does that make them a minion, or if someone agrees with Vantel's Vuckers, does that make them a Vucker?

You would have to ask Vantel, if he returns, he makes the rules.
My answer would be for people to be themselves.

I have a feeling he is taking a break, much like vintage after he ranted about posters and their perception of the teams turmoil or lack of.

Hopefully everyone can hug it out and be a little more tolerant of each other. I have enjoyed the hockey discussions overall in the last 4-5 days.

I was wondering where Vintage was, I must of missed his soliloquy on the captards. I'm sure it was inspirational.
Most of us disagree with each other at one point or another and most of us still have a good degree of camaraderie.

it's amazing that the same tired hockey discussions are a wonderful change of pace around here!

i'm looking forward to the games! i know it's a bizarre scenario and hopefully they're able to play through without any pandemic issues. it's going to be fun with so many games going on. you'll be able to switch back and forth to so as to avoid any boring games.

plus, with so many games on you can watch if and when you have time. go out and enjoy the fresh air with the knowledge that there's going to be live hockey whenever you want to watch. that's not too bad!!

That's the ticket, I rarely and I mean rarely turn on a TV, I hate social media and the need for instant notification on any subject.

I know, pathetic lifestyle, but my workshop with music blaring is better than being inundated with breaking news.

Not pathetic at all. I was the last guy to get an answering machine, the last guy to get a VCR, the last guy to get a cell phone and have never understood the attraction of FaceBook and all of that other nonsense. I've had a number of people, including family, that say I'm "hard to find" and I respond "I know" with a big smile.

it's weird how obsessed all/most of us have gotten in this respect (or was it always there?) we need to know everything as soon as it happens!

take sports for example. i want to know the moment a trade happens. i need to know the details. what's everyone saying? what's the impact? etc.

it's all bs because whether i know today or tomorrow or next week, it doesn't impact anyone even me.

...but i gotta know... NOW!

(btw, i'm not on any social media either so i guess it could be worse for me)

At work it’s got out of hand. There’s a certain age group that needs instant response. If they don’t get it they will hound you until they are satisfied.

I receive an inconsequential email at 9am and by 10:30am they are calling me. It’s unbelievable. The delayed response creates a huge amount of stress for them. Physical pain almost.

I work with some guys like that. They'll text me on a day off, then again, then they'll call, then one more text saying "fine, ignore me then".

I have to explain that it's my day off and i'm not on call so I leave my phone somewhere and forget about it for hours. They can't understand why the hell I would do that.

jesus christ, just talk to your kids before they have to text and call you!

...and for the last time, they're not "some guys you work with."

My kids mean the world to me and always will. However, as they grow they want more independence an i'm happy to let them have some. You have to let your kids fall and rise on their own IMO or else they won't know what to do when you aren't always there.

The world needs more parenting like that, at least the western world.
As someone who has seen their share of adversity, I know I only learn and grow stronger from learning from mistakes.
I grew up in a strict household but it was in the days of free range parenting.

I guess it's all 'essential travel'. Some very loose standards in regards to that. The airlines clearly don't give a f*ck.

I stand by what I said months ago in that we are lifting restrictions too quickly. Sad to think we are still in wave 1 and things are still this bad globally

I don't hold out much hope for next year to be much different. Like you say, until there's a vaccine...

i keep reading reports that the clinical trials are going unbelievably good and the results have been very promising. Mass producing it will be the next hurdle. I honestly can't wait to get the vaccine.
