Do you have a fucking clue as to what Booner is getting at or just 'popping in' to spew the narratives?
- LordHumungous

Yeah I do understand, he is giving a take on how the Ukraine political make up came about, their countries distasteful internal factions, and why Russia feels justified in attacking to keep NATO at Bay..
My simplistic interpretation without providing scores of articles.

Regardless of politics, attacking another country and killing innocent people is and can never be justified. Any country that has policies in place that results in the death of innocent people can never be justified, see Canada, US, China, etc.

Why does any country even have a military? And are you saying that Canada, US and China don’t contribute to the deaths of innocent people abroad (or at home)?

No, not at all, exact opposite and having a military shouldn’t allow for bombing innocent people because of small Richard syndrome.

Very good point Makita. Ukraine has been shelling civilians in Donbas for 8 years now. They sent in tanks, choppers, ground attack jets, and artillery because they rejected the western led coup. Upwards of 15,000 dead since... nobody had said anything in here about what Ukraine has done... now all of a sudden they care about Ukraine and it's people. It shows just how much outrage is controlled by media.

While you were explaining how you understood my takes and explaining what you feel isn't justified, you conveniently left out all the slaughter of ethnic Russians. Don't want to change the context?

Wow, you really do have a extremely narrow mind. 8 years innocent people have been dying before this invasion followed. It's all about ego though....

Ok so just nuke the country, after all they were guilt of bombing their own civilians, guess I should be more open minded to bombing cities, stopping the innocent from fleeing, you’ve convinced me Russia is justified.

Pretty wild pendulum swing there Makita. Go from indifference to nuke them in one heart beat.

What you are projecting on me is dishonest. There's a difference in explaining why this happened vs calling it justified. Incredibly narrowminded once again.

I certainly wanted to avoid this war through all of these years. I talked about what was happening from time to time on HB. My concerns are on record. My grandmother immigrated from Ukraine. My mother is half and I'm 1/4 Ukrainian. It sickened me to see America and allies pushing it to this situation all these years. My outrage isn't short of two weeks like most everybody else.

Everyone else seems to be able to discuss this in a mature way Makita. This isnt a Jim Benning conversation...

Imagine the scenes we would have seen if there were cell phones in WW2.

I can't imagine. We are so privileged not to live under those circumstances. I think some members of our society forget that.

I was worried about a 2nd organ failure when there was the geriatric slap-down with Rosterhawk. You know some one is unhinged when they pick a fight with Nighthawk.

This is an interesting presentation, given at Yale University by Vladimir Pozner, a French born, US raised, Russian independent journalist from September 2018. It’s almost 2 hrs, but his presentation is the first 40 minutes, the rest is conversation with the (student) audience.

https://youtu.be/8X7Ng75e5gQ

I have a close friend who’s father is (still) living in a small town in NE Ukraine, on the border with Russia. He has been sheltering in the basement of his house for the past week. One of the things that adds the most anxiety for my friend is that between the Canadian (and US) media, European media, Ukrainian media and Russian media she can’t get a real picture of what is going on. Everyone spins a different tale, they all blame each other. Mr. Pozner touches on this a bit.

Thanks. I've bookmarked this for listening later. I like to listen to seminars etc when I'm doing chores or driving. You can never get too many perspectives on issues.

So some encouraging language coming out of Zelensky. Stepping back from NATO desires and open to discussion about the status of the breakaway regions with Putin.

https://www.msn.com/en-us....news&utm_medium=referral

If Biden could have stepped back from this and gave reassurances of not accepting Ukraine into NATO, this would have been averted but not a chance. He kept dangling this red herring in front of Zelenky by leaving it open. Zelenky now expressing he knows NATO is too afraid to step up so joining is moot. I sense he knows his nation is just being used.

America gets everything they want out of sacrificing Ukraine. A isolated economical crushed Russia, incredible energy opportunities and weapons sales. A strangle hold on the EU and their foes in the east.
