Might need to book mark the current thread for mid season reminders of how this was going to be a 1st place team…

Why do people have so many secret alts? Do people care that much about HB and pissing random people on the internet off?
- NewYorkNuck

you gotta admit that the weirdness of this place and its inhabitants is oddly intriguing.

observing and participating on HB is like being a chimp and jane goodall at the same time.

Alts became popular right around 10.12.2016.

I wonder if the spike in COVID cases among children are from households with unvaccinated parents - and then spreading at school?

39 year old Nanaimo man just died, wife and two young daughters now begging for people to think about their families and get vaccinated.

I always chuckle a bit when you hear stories of anti-vaxxers who get covid then all of a sudden become outspoken advocates of the vaccine. You just got to shake your head.

I’d be interested to have a calm, rational conversation with someone who is hesitant or against vaccination to hear why they feel the way they do. I am yet to hear anything intelligent. Nobody seems willing to share their reasons. It’s always “personal choice” (Tyler Bertuzzi), or some retarded conspiracy with no actual reason. There must be legitimate reasons right?

You can't have a rational conversation with someone who's irrational.

Oops, just flagged this - refs, please ignore…

That’s what I’m asking, other than someone with a serious medical condition that prevents them from safely getting vaccinated, are there any actual legitimate concerns? I haven’t heard any, so I’m curious to know what they are.

Lordy out there dodging facts like George Bush dodges shoes

- NewYorkNuck

i was not a fan of gwb's presidency (to put it lightly) but this event showed him to be a real G. dude dodges the shoe like neo from the matrix and shoos off the security like, "nah, i got this."

as for lordy, why engage in a discussion when you can just fall back on, "lol, you'll never be convinced anyway," and "lol, you believe those sources?"

those are techniques used to avoid discussions so as to maintain one's own beliefs. it's easier to maintain your opinion when you don't have to back up what you're saying or address counter arguments. dismiss the source and say that it's not worth engaging (so as to pretend to take the higher road) and you don't have to face your own opinions in a rational manner.

He was a terrible president/war criminal, pretty idiotic person, but a simple man who is likeable without the history side of him.

And you get that much a response from Lordy? Normal it's just three laughy faces lol

Either that or a "rent free" comment that doesn't really mean anything, just another deflection from the actual topic.

You guys seen the movie Vice? So good. Unfortunately for GWB he was a good guy who was really liked by people in that circle but was put into a position that he had no business being put into.

GWB should have stayed part owner and prez of a pro baseball team and be a fun loving, partying billionaire’s son. He was perfect for that roll.

Saying that, after experiencing trump, history will be kind to GWB and much harsher to the people who surrounded and advised him (like Cheney and Rumsfeld).

Lordy’s OK. His attitude is more of devil’s advocate then a hardened political right wing fanatic. I think he’s taken on this persona to troll Carol’s thread after that big blow up where a bunch of people “quit”.

I honestly think he cares much more about music, hockey, and golf than he does politics and civil rights.

He definitely plays the contrarian/troll/devil's advocate well. I enjoy throwing the odd scrap, in the end his answer to most things is .

Speaking of trolls, Nucker's stamina for loving all things Benning is impressive.

i'll simplify it even further: he never left the 80's. he believes that decade to have produced the best eras of music and hockey. i'm going to go out on a limb and say his idealized society is from there as well.

btw, the 80's were his high school years.

Or nucker’s trolling of Lordy. I can’t believe Lordy hasn’t picked up on it yet. It’s pretty obvious. Again, Nucker is trolling the threads because not too long ago he quit. Has come back with a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

it would have been nice if someone set up a thread and pasted all the "i quit" rants.

tell me that wouldn't be a comedic pick-me-up on a rainy/bad day.

Oh man, what a great idea. That would be great. After 2011 Stanley Cup letdown I remember a few of the old timers rage quitting saying “that’s it, I’m done, (frank) this team”.
