sorry, should have put a trigger warning on it....

do you feel attacked?

I still can't embed but this song speaks to that. Ignore the medium and hear the lyrics, same with too woke, the lyrics are accurate.

The lyrics are pretty terrible, lets be real And his rapping is atrocious

For someone talking about how media/politics are capitalizing on race politics, the hypocrisy is he's doing the same thing – hitting on this alt-right victim mentality. He's not saying anything new or interesting.

If you want to watch a short thing about great rappers/lyricists and why they're so great (unlike this Vanilla Ice reject), you can here:

Good video, I personally like commons lyrical works as far as intelligent and forward thinking.

I hate mumble rap and the glorifying of drugs and violence which is something I like about Tom.

Listen to more then that one song dude, he's not alt right, I suggest "if I was black".

Is there anything that he says that isn't a fact?

There's a couple of things that I don't agree with that he talks about, but just because I disagree with him doesn't make the facts fake.

I'd honestly listen to more if was actually good. He's truthfully a terrible rapper, regardless of what's being said. Do you think if what he was saying wasn't "controversial", he'd be getting acclaim for his abilities?

I listened to and read through "If I Was Black". Again, it's not anything revelatory or new in his lyrics – maybe for some white people who haven't read about black history/BLM? And it also raises some problems, as a white guy singing about what it would be like to be black. There's lots of grey areas in that idea, and I've talked about it at lengths with my GF (both artists: she's a writer, I'm a painter) about this divide of talking about and issue versus not talking about, capitalizing on it, being an ally versus standing down... However, I couldn't find much on his background, but being a white guy from Edmonton that was a wrestler, seems like it doesn't lend itself that well to talking about "what it would be like to be a black person". Again, he's not really saying anything that isn't already out there, but then why does he have to say it at all? It's very general and plays on tropes of what the common idea of being black is.

I also understand in saying this, as a white kid from Canada, I am probably not the best to speak on this, but I acknowledge that more than these hypocritical lyrics:

"I'd be pissed at all these cracker rappers singin' 'bout my life
Stole my music, stole my style, give it back, that poop is mine"

And I never said he was lying or anything about his facts. But If I rapped

"The round Earth moves around the sun
when I have a hotdog I put ketchup on the bun"

it'd be the same sort of facts he's putting out. Yes, "facts", but like, I'm not disagreeing with them/they're not fake because they're just sort of there?

I like your hot dog style.
I feel it's interesting to put out there because alot of people don't know all those facts, they don't know about the governments experiments with drugs or hiv on the black community.

I'm quite liberal in many ways but in the last year I've pulled back from supporting some of the more progressive movements because they seem to be going to far. Anti racist I am, the anti racist movement seems to be borderline racist (bad actors on all sides). Feminism is awesome, but it should be about equally, not about anti male which, again vocal minority, seems to have gained traction in recent years. I guess that's why him being a controversial rapper resonates with me.

I'm a single dad, full time of one and still fighting for custody of my youngest. I can tell you first hand how the system discriminates against me. My ex was physically abusive on several occasions to my son. I reported her, guess who the Ministry investigated, twice? Closed the file twice. Guess who got auto custody of the child, despite the abuse? The system is rigged and yes it does make me jaded.

Sorry to hear that, must be tough for you and for the kids. There are lots of systems in place that haven't been properly addressed for a long time, and people are getting tired of it. That's where some of this violence is stemming from, no real action on issues that people are struggling with. (Black people, in my opinion, have been dealing with it for longer and in much worse ways than others, but that also doesn't diminish the real struggles others are personally going through.)

I just don't really buy into his controversy. I don't think he's conscious of the nuance of the larger conversation he is injecting himself into – and it's not done in a performance art way (like Borat, to expose our own biases).

But if you didn't watch it and like rap, that VOX video i posted above is actually really good on the breakdown of the best rap lyricists and how they flow.

I did watch it, it was a really good breakdown. Most rap now is trash, it's nice seeing the lyrical breakdown. I'm enjoying run the jewels and Tom right now, hate mumble and radio rap. Used to like gangster rap but don't like the message.
So I like political rap now, clear messages cleanly spoken that spark a conversation. Tom says things that spark a conversation, I don't agree with everything he says, but he lays out facts in a manner that's hard to disagree with. Some still disagree and as shown after I first posted it, get triggered and accused him of alt right and cultural appropriation. I don't hear anything alt right and the appropriation thing is laughable.

I guess I'm tired of the obvious, getting people to fight each other whilst the fat cats get fatter. I got in on the game stock surge early enough I shouldn't lose money because (frank) the fat cats.

She's an idiot but..... went through an open door.

Charged with non violent crimes.

Not a big deal, but yes, I'd call her a snowflake.

this is what I’m referring to, this statement above is your interpretation of the incident in which she was arrested for.

but.....went through an open door.
The article “ knowingly entering a restricted building and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds”

“ F--- yes, I am proud of my actions, I f---ing charged the Capitol today with patriots today. Hell, yes, I am proud of my actions,"

detailed how she "pushed and pushed" and "got up to the top of the Capitol." She claimed, "there was a door open and we went inside," and later was able to "break down the Nancy Pelosi's office door,"

"I would absolutely do it again,"

I hope the judge laughs at her request and she receives a lengthy sentence.

My statement quotes the article and states she's an idiot, no need for the theatrical hyperbole.

The door was open, there's videos that have been posted, the door wasn't busted open, she wasn't charged with breaking it open it was opened and they were let in. I know it doesn't fit your narrative and that because I disagree with you I must be alt right.

Remove the hyperbole and try, just (frank)ing try to see the facts without phrasing things in a manner to portray things in any one fashion. You've bought into the hype so far that you can't even see the bullpoop you're standing in.

Was she charged with violent or non violent crimes? The truth, non violent crimes.

Are you even capable of not engaging in hyperbole?

Like I wrote, she's an idiot but she got charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing. Period, full stop, those are the bland legal facts minus the PR and politicized hyperbole.

Your take treats it like she led a violent, flag waiving, mob en route to destroy precious instruments of democracy in her way to lead a violent insurrection that would have destabilized the whole western world!

Speech that you hate doesn't make it hate speech.
I Look for and at the actual facts of any given matter instead of trying to maintain confirmation bias, it's rather sad how programed seemingly intelligent people are.

I try to understand your position or should I say lack of position.

There are only facts in what I posted. You’re the hyperbole king here, downplaying the severity of the non-violent charges.

Here is your take, you know there she was, innocently protesting with a mob that was not charged up by Congressman and the President, nope just there to support a legal vote count and looky over there, an open door, jeez where could this lead, oh look it’s Nancy’s office...knock knock, oh Nancy are you available”.

You twist the actual facts of any given matter, your interpretation is skewed. It’s sad how how some people think their perception is holier than thou and downplay actual events into either complacency or a conspiracy.

But I guess only your view is the proper way to interpret any events. It obviously was just Trump and a few Congressmen trying to have a peaceful non violent March holding hands and singing kumbaya.

Do you know the definition of hyperbole? I don't think that you do.

Did I say anything that you've professed? No. Did you take what was written and wrote an extreme fictional account of it? Yes. That's the definition of hyperbole. Good one, dude.

What was she, an idiot, actually charged with?
B&E, nope SHE was not charged with breaking anything.
Well, then what was she actually charged with, plain facts? Disorderly conduct and trespassing without permission. This are the facts, full stop, period.
Was she charged with violent or non violent crimes? I know it doesn't fit your narrative so you reject reality but guess what, she was charged with non violent crimes.

What does the police report actual say? Non violent crimes.... damn sucks to be so stuck in an echo chamber that non violent reads as violent insurrection, because, facts.

Accessing a restricted area... hmm that sounds violent, nope that means trespassing..... poop, that didn't fit your narrative so guess what you should do? Reject it and extenuat the circumstances to fit your narrative of it being a violent insurrection!

Dude, too funny. Yes she's an idiot, I already said that, but it's funny that me stating bland facts, like the fact she's been charged with the non violent offense of accessing a restricted area(trespassing) and disorderly conduct would be so triggering to some.

Your tell is showing and it's kinda funny.

Yes, calling someone an idiot is how you stick up for them. I can tell why you're so popular.

Most articulate thing you've said so far, doesn't say much, but hey, at least your trying.

Stating facts doesn't mean you support someone, she's an idiot, the hyperbole around it is ridiculous, she got charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing, like WTF? Should she get life in prison?

You know what’s funny here is you down playing the insurrection, downplaying the actions of the outgoing president, downplaying the actions of the congressmen, downplaying the actions of a mainly white republican mob.

You whole stance is, meh no big deal but hey how about the BLM riots, man I’m surprised you haven’t tried to make a correlation to the 1st nations protest that were in Canada.Did you see they occupied the provincial parliament buildings, they burned pallets on the railroad line...terrorist. The capital insurrection...naw just a bunch of guys out for a walk, they were invited in the building, nothing serious at all.

I get it though, your real issue is that you can’t do and say things that were once acceptable, you’re a part of the alt right victim society, and it shows.

So in your words, “your tell is showing and it’s kinda funny.”
