@Gauds Plan

Vancouver should have Victor Soderstrom high on their list and could be an option in the 10-14 range of the draft.

17-year-old right-handed defenceman that is a regular in a men's league (SHL). Sound defensively and has a really nice offensive skillset.

A few clips of Broberg, why some aren't so high on him.

He is 18 and playing in a men's league. Probably not someone to look at in the top 10 though. IMO.

@DraftLook

I’m cooling fast on Mikko Kokkonen. Not very noticeable, doesn’t attempt high-skill plays, and from what I’ve tracked, doesn’t seem to be “quietly effective” either. Struggles on the breakout, will often move the puck back into pressure.

Honestly, if I had to project his future right now, I’d probably say bottom pairing defenceman that factor in on special teams. I prefer Anttoni Honka and Ville Heinola as far as Finnish blueliners go.

Cam Robinson
Mikko Kokkonen, LHD / 01-18-01 / 5’11 190 / Liiga
Logs heavy minutes in all situations and produces a calm and measured approach. That mature game earned him the distinction of being the youngest player to ever suit up in a Liiga game as a 15-year-old. Strong outlets, good compete level and defensive positioning. He’s been superb in the Liiga early on this season. A deft two-way player who likely projects as a complementary offensive piece at the next level

4PT night (1G/3A) for Raphael Lavoie as Halifax downed Sherbrooke 8-2/

The big winger is now up to 52PTS (22G/30A) in 47GP this season.

#2019NHLDraft

Big night for the big winger. Some other big Q forwards Anthony Mantha and Julien Gauthier. See him in the closer to 15-20 range.

Jakob Pelletier and Nikita Alexandrov both had good showings for their respective teams as Charlottetown defeated Moncton 4-3 (SO)

Pelletier scored 2 goals and Alexandrov had a goal and two assists

Pelletier is up to 64PTS (47GP) and Alexandrov has 47PTS (46GP)

I have seen neither play other then the CHL top prospects game. Liked Alexandrov's game, look to get him with a 4-5 round pick. Pelletier in the 18-24 range.

Philip Tomasino this years Ty Dellandrea

53 points in 46 games and a plus 26.

For Comparison Barrett Hayton had 60 points in 63 games and was a plus 24 last season. 5oa pick.

Hayton probably doesn't skate as well but is better defensively.

One question for scouts to answer is whether they view the role players on the NTDP - Beecher, Caulfield, Farrell, Lindmark etc. — as gems buried on a depth chart, or are they depth players for a reason. Beecher is one kid I can see developing into a Dubinsky type.

I like Beecher, Caulfield, and Lindmark. 2 out of 3 in the 4th round of later would be awesome.

If you watched the Team USA-Finland game, you saw multiple examples of why Alex Turcotte, Trevor Zegras and Matthew Boldy have star potential. Doesn’t always have to be validated by the scoresheet.

I'll start talking 2020 draft soon. I just enjoy prospects.

I've lost a lot of respect for certain "prospect guru's" lately. I think they just get confused chasing the dream that they might be able to find 5 gems outside first rounds that don't belong.

Pronman when he picked Laine over Matthews. Then not ranking EP 1st

Cam Robinson didn't even have Pavel Dorofeyev ranked in the first round. "Even though he's now starting to believe it." What more does he have to do? 21 KHL games for an 18 year old is a hard task to accomplish let alone if he ever gets a single point. At 17 he was a ppg vs 18 year olds at international events.

That is an opinion alright.

Kakko not a play driver. Van doesnt have enough EPs to go around.

I just dont see york as having the ability to defend like soderstrom does. I do agree he does some things better. Like soderstrom’s shot, d and skating. Really think we could use that over more pure-offence. Borberg is also good but lhd and doesnt have a big shot.
