Like that, how's his skating? Anyone seen him play? - OLDSCHOOL#6
just read this recent report about him
2. Tim Gettinger - Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds
Like Day, I think Gettinger also had a great year. Last year I wrote, "I'm going to predict a breakout year. I'm going to say that he scores 30 and is close to a point per game player." And he did just that, scoring 31 as part of a very well balanced attack in SSM. More importantly, the areas of his game that needed to improve...did. He's a good skater for a big guy, and he's finally starting to be aggressive in driving the net, looking to play in close, using his size to put defenders on his back. And he was noticeably stronger on the puck this year; much better working the wall and fighting through traffic. His finishing ability and the velocity behind his shot also looked much improved. Lastly, Gettinger took steps forward as a two-way player, seeing time on the PK, where he can use his length to disrupt passing lanes. Heading into next year, the Hounds should be one of the better teams in the OHL and Gettinger should continue to feature highly. I would suspect he'll see more powerplay time next year too, in place of a guy like Zach Senyshyn. A 40 goal season is not far fetched at all IMO. Want to see him continue to grow as a power forward too, using his size to play a little more physical (even though I'm not sure that's a natural part of his game

That bodes well, but I think you're right, seems a year away.

Read an article about how the team he plays for is big into analytics, skill and finesse. They believe in puck possession and use dump and chase as a last resort, so this has helped Gettinger develop a skill game where on other teams they would have turned him into a north south grinder.

I've gained 10 pounds this summer - 227 now - 21peter
That sounds like my kind of summer! I came home from my golf trip at 190. Probably not good for someone who needs skates to clear 5'5"! Not in terrible shape, think fire hydrant, but certainly not game shape!

personally I think Middleton/Hodge is waaaay worse, because Hodge contributed absolutely nothing
Espo and Vadnais did contribute and Espo was arguably Rangers best player on a team that made the finals, with Vadnais a monster during that playoff run as well - jimbro83
I agree with those facts, Jim, since both Espo & Vadnais made their contributions here, making the "Middleton for 96 games worth of Ken Hodge", the worst trade in the 1963 to 1994 Era, as I also voted for, and said earlier it was "hands down" the case.
But, for those just old enough to recall Espo demanding back then, "Get me Ken Hodge here", had the trade for Espo never taken place, Middleton had the potential to be, & would have been their next Rod Gilbert production wise, playing his entire career as a Ranger. So viewing it only under that instance, plus the projected success of Middleton as their 1973 1st Round #14 overall pick, based on his Bruins career success, the likelihood is that had Espo never been traded for earlier, there never would have never been a Middleton for Hodge trade at all.
