After voting the Rick Middleton trade for Ken Hodge as thee worst of the 1963-1994 Era for reasons I wrote earlier, I could see how some may feel that the Park, Ratelle, Zanussi trade for Espo and the late, Carol Vadnais, may have been even worse. That would only be the case, when due to the fact that in the first place, had that trade never occurred, Espo would not have been here to demand the Rangers to acquire Ken Hodge, likely leaving Middleton remaining a Ranger for good.

personally I think Middleton/Hodge is waaaay worse, because Hodge contributed absolutely nothing
Espo and Vadnais did contribute and Espo was arguably Rangers best player on a team that made the finals, with Vadnais a monster during that playoff run as well |

That's what happens when you lose 2 forwards.
It's like last year when people wanted to trade a core forward for a defenseman because we were so deep offensively...but what they didn't understand is if you move 1 forward you go from being deep to average just like that up front. |
