This is the old peoples blog.

Can't really comment on any of the ones before the mid 80's so I will go with acquiring Bernie Nicholls because his face always bothered me.

Who are you calling old? If going historical, can't leave out a large portion of that timeframe. The next blog is 95 forward. But as you see, some bad deals in past, which will make the top-five overall.

Marc Savard for Jan Hlavac and Jamie Lundmark was rough too.

For the 95- years nothing beats this poopbomb of a trade.

Los Angeles Kings acquire
Ray Ferraro, Nathan Lafayette, Ian Laperriere, Mattias Norstrom, 1997 4th round pick (#99-Sean Blanchard)

New York Rangers acquire
Shane Churla, Jari Kurri, Marty McSorley

Gentlemen, can I trouble to hold off the discussions on deals from 1995 forward. I promise you they are all in that blog. I debated having just one blog but with 36 deals overall, I felt separating it into two blogs made the most sense.

Wasn't born when several of these deals happened. Need to know your team's history so you can speak intelligently on the franchise as a whole

Or if you're a millennial Islander fan who uses their success in the 80's that you weren't alive for as some sort of evidence of.....something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

well, the league made a backroom deal to make sure you'd get Sidney Crosby or you guys would have moved to Kansas City and to appease Mario who helped end the lockout.

It's true. Not a made up story. So put an asterisk on the Cups there (frank) dog.

THANK YOU! It's about time someone called out pens fans(fan) for the hypocritical fools they are. While I try to control myself here I cannot do it on the pens blog but I do enjoy stirring them up. It's refreshing to hear someone else comment about Crosby and how the tanked for years to get Lemieux. The only good move by them was drafting that butcher letang.while I try to read the blogs (great job Jan!)I don't comment to much because I'm an old timer and I find myself losing my temper which I know I can't do (trolling ) so thanks for setting them straight I enjoyed it.! Also enjoyed the lack of a response because there is none.

If 94 is considered old, we have a bigger issue here . I was a little kid when RTelle and Middleton were dealt.

just getting back to the blog topic, one reason why Duguay was traded was he and Herb Brooks did not get along

Just bustin your stones. I didn't start following till about early 80's and even then it was sporadic. Probably didn't become a diehard till the late 80's.

Cool idea Jan. A lot of this is way before my time but in playing a lot of NHLPA93 I know that Tomas Sandstrom and Tony Granato were great in that game with Wayne.

he contributed fine for a one season at the expense of a measley 4th rounder, especially 1st half of season

but, it's hard to erase a couple of those gaffes from the Ottawa series out of my memory

ultimately though, he's just in the way now, young D like DeAngelo need to play

Yup, and once you got on Brooks' bad side, there was no recovery. Regardless of why deal was made, trade was a bad one. Huber never panned out out as he was just a big body, Osborne was a nice player and Blaisdell was nothing, despite his prospect status.
