Out of pure curiosity, what would you offer for Wayne Simmonds?
Suppose we are also willing to take on Stoner's contract without Anaheim having to retain any salary. |

Nice blog, Ed. I agree with all of your responses with the exception of trading Sam Steel. This kid looks like he's going to be something special and it would be short-sided to get rid of the kid considering the ageing of Anaheim's top 6.
Also, Perry must read your blog. Last night's game in Buffalo was his best game of the year and the first time in a loooong time that he's looked like Corey Perry. |

Why would Philly want to trade Simmonds? A really nice player on a good contract. I'd trade something similar to what Ed suggested for Landeskog, Vatanen, a second, and one of Kossila, Nattinen, or Kerdiles. |

I think Steele has game as well. A player of Landeskog calibur, who is only 24, doesn't become available very often. |

The Ducks are a low key team. He brings too much off ice baggage. |

I agree with duxcup07, why would Philly want to trade Simmonds? It doesn't seem realistic. |

What happened in Buffalo is more of the attention whores in this area, and since he was scolded by the Pegulas he has had zero issues. He is getting older and wiser i believe. No news of him being a bad locker room guy either. Top scorer in the league since December, i think he could fit with your team, and you have enough solid vets to keep him in check. |

I hear you and your points are valid. He doesn't seem like a guy at this point in his career that Murray would make the centerpiece of a big trade. Additionally, his contract expires after next season and I doubt the Ducks would pay him the amount he will get as a UFA. |

That's why i said Theodore, nothing crazy maybe a 2nd or blue chip prospect. You guys get a 100mph wrecking ball who can score goals for 2 playoff runs. We get a good young d-man that we need. |

And it's also just as rare to have a top 4 PMD signed to a reasonable contract for the next 3 years (and only 25) become available. IMO. Keep Steele, offer another F prospect, and a 1st (or perfect world 2nd), and I think you have a fair deal.

I might be weird but I measure trade offers like this:
We don't want to get rid of Theodore.
You guys obviously want to rid yourselves of Kane.
We will trade Theodore to you, but it will have to be for a player/prospect that you're not actively trying to get rid of.
Kane, being a player you'd rather not keep around, will land you a Ducks player that we would rather not keep around.
Also, the Ducks are as close to the salary cap as they've ever been since its inception. They can only make trades where significant $$ is leaving. The ultra cost-effective guys like Theodore are probably off the table, especially if you're only offering Kane. |

Bailey... But we've been told Murray has said no on a few occasions in a package deal for him. |

He is correct. Either Fowler or Vatanen get traded. The Ducks can't afford to deal Theodore in exchange for Kane's salary. Trading Stoner her is irrelevant because he is on LTIR. |

Sami and Stoner for Simmer - I love the guy - Philly would have to be insane to trade him IMO - |

Fun time to be a Ducks fan. This was a fun piece Ed.
Murray said after he signed Lindholm that he was going to, "give this team one more shot." Right now they're in a playoff position, and I don't think they've yet to play their absolute best. Efforts like yesterday, where the stars were putting the game on their shoulders, creating time and space, was the difference maker. That, plus offensive urgency and disciplined play was the winning formula. Can it be replicated? We'll see.
Capitals tomorrow. It's no secret that the Eastern Conference Superstars (Ovechkin, Crosby and Stamkos) regularly have a heyday against Anaheim. Washington is a scorching 8-2 in their last 10, and they've been practically unbeatable at the Verizon Center. Should make for a good game. |

We don't want your garbage. Send him to a team that likes trouble, like LA or Edmonton. He and Lucic could really have a good time. |
