I dont think Rodin will sign without an outclause like Tryamkin has. His resume in Europe will pay him better there than his NHL deal will, so if he cant crack the big club I expect him to leave.

Kenins doesnt have a spot as long as Doresett is around, they are similar players and as it was proven this year, you dont need two anchors on one line

I didn't mind the Tryamkin out-clause as Benning must see something super crazy there if he is worth the out-clause. I just get nervous talking about it with more players as we are starting to see a Mike Gillis philosophy starting. "you get a NMC, no YOU get a NMC, No you get a Out-Clause!"

I think Rodin will be offered a Vey like contract . Come prove what you can do this year 1 mil.

He deserves an AHL out clause seeing he has done his time in the AHL already. He is NHL or bust .

I actually dont mind it. I think that letting players develop in their preferred situation could benefit them in the long run. Whether its more icetime, certain coaches, or playing in their home town/country, player comfort is important to keep them motivated. I wouldnt do it for everyone, but as VANTEL says, Rodin did his time in the AHL so hes earned that for me, Tryamkin is young and raw and could benefit from developing in an area of comfort. The team will still retain the player's rights and it would be really good if the contract is removed from the count (though I am not sure if it does)

IMO Kenins should not have a spot regardless of who is on the team. He is not an NHL player.
- VANTEL

He has the potential to be a 4th line crash and bang player, but thats it. Quite replaceable and easily duplicated, so I wouldnt worry about him leaving, I just think for next season, even if he comes in in top shape and agressive, you only need one of him and Doresett

He looked like a NHL player prior to his injury last year and has been very good for Utica since coming back from injury again.

I don't think it is such a stretch to say he would of been as good as Prust if healthy.

The Canucks don't have many guys capable of intimidating the opposition and I hope they keep him for that reason alone. I would like to see him resigned and battle Gaunce, Grenier, Zalewski, Etem for spot next year, worst case scenario is that he isn't good enough and is waived and claimed or helps Utica.

I don't think Benning had a choice, in order to get him to sign a contract I imagine he had to structure it in a way that compensated Tryamkin similarly to the KHL.

Either he will show enough to be a player after next season and will be resigned or he won't and will have to make the choice to be open to developing here or going back to the KHL.

Why bother? Do you ever see Kenins fitting here?

Speaking of Rodin where does he fit in to the scheme of things

- VANTEL

When Kenins was hitting, he was effective, when he tried to get too pretty, less so.

was just thinking in terms of asset management in retaining the rights of Kenins if he goes back to europe, plays well, might hold some value in a future transaction for a pick or something, especially if the NHL expands.

if I heard correctly, Rodin has generated some interest from other teams while doing well in the SEL. Not sure if he has a future with the Canucks, but in a trade, maybe we get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him if JB decides to move him.

Rodin could certainly replace what Vrbata has brought this season.

If Kenins just walks, I don't think it is a big loss, but if you can retain his rights without costing a contract, why not?

Lots of roster decisions and work for next season on JB's plate. Will both JV and JM play with the big club or in Utica? Has Etem shown enough to warrant a roster spot? Is there any demand for our young players if they might not be a fit next season and will require waivers?

they definitely tried way too hard to turn him into a top 6 player, when he could have been a solid 3rd line winger. Remember when he had a stretch with the Sedins? I'm glad to see him go, many players in our system are heads and toes above him in terms of development, and have been for a couple seasons. I would try to trade his rights tho could see a team throwing us a 7th or something, he's still young and can throw the body around.

VANTEL is right, Travis Green never even mentions Kenins's name, Grenier/Zalewski/Gaunce have passed him in terms of defensively responsible wingers. With is offense dried up, I don't really see any value in Kenins anymore. Let him go to Europe, it happens all the time. I know Hartley likes Kenins game, a lot of coaches do, so he could be tradeable.

I meant to put the after the Vrbata comment.

Just looking at the lineup, i want more balance of styles, some play making, scoring and grit on a fwd line and an offensive and defensive dman paired together. Not sure if it is possible with our roster, at least not on every fwd line or d pairing, and I guess that is why we are where we are...

I'm still hoping for more grit and wondering who is going to score beyond the Sedins and Baertschi?

and wondering if Larsson will have any impact?
