Going to be 'that guy' again and mention another Hutton poor defensive performance. Take the rosy lenses off boys, he's a 5-6 but looks to be a great pp guy and we need one of those, if we get a LHD that can fire it, look out. Were looking like a lock for top-5 more everyday - neem55
You know what sucks? Hutton will eventually be overpaid because he'll point to his point totals and get rewarded. |

I will be the other guy. The whole team played lousy again. We are battling for last place. I seen huge mistakes by Tanev and Hamhuis last night and the game before.
You can't pin this losing year on a young kid that is still learning the game |

I didn't like the Boedker move where he stepped around him a bit, back hand to forehand and Hutton didn't stick check him to try to stop or disrupt the shot. But you still have to keep in mind it is his rookie season and he has been put into a top 4 role, if not top pairing.
I'm giving him lots of rope. He is still figuring it out.
(and as Vantel stated, lots of mistakes throughout the lineup.) |

Last nights game was on Miller.
I won't say I blame him because I was hoping for the loss. I am open about my feelings about being a draftist this year. I am willing to go through this year as an opportunity and not a failure.
I like the youth of this team and I think with a top pick who can step right in and play next year followed by Boeser the following year . Things are looking up.
The team will have twenty million dollars to fix holes. They have assets to make trades. And with the expansion draft in 2017 they have a get out of jail free card to move a bad contract ( maybe). |

It was pretty soft on Hutton, but Bodker is a pretty tough guy to handle when he's driving the net, so I wasnt too surprised.
Tryamkin looked good last night, calm, looks to be a very cerebral player (like Chara) though that could have been nerves. Was happy to see him get a point early, get that out of the way.
On another note, dont really get the Pedan love, if he keeps playing like he did last night, he will never make this team next season. He hasn't really sold me yet, dont know about anyone else, though. |

NMCs are exempt, and all our other contracts noone will want (maybe sutter 3 years from now?). I dont lay any of these losses on our goalies personally. The Defense is a garbage fire these days. |

I watched it a few times, and the timing was really lucky for Boedker IMO. Hutton lunged for the puck just as Boedker made the move inside. Not saying Hutton was in good position, he was caught flat footed but a bit of that goal was luck to me
I do think getting more icetime is starting to get to him. College player that is used to a short season, has now played over 60 games and with more minutes/tougher opposition the further he has gone into the season. I think this will be good for him heading into next season, but for now expect him to look worse |

I am not a stats guy, but noticed this from CanucksArmy:
Pedan led all Canucks defenceman in Corsi For tonight, with a glowing 63% mark.

I think he was trying to do too much yesterday and had a bit more nerves. He stepped up at some bad times, especially early on and looked to be squeezing the stick too tight when he had the puck. He physically has the tools, but last night I think was a mental challenge for him with the big guy next to him on the bench threatening his potential ice time in Vancouver |

It is kind of hard to evaluate Pedan after 10 minutes of play. We seen one game he had 8 big hits and a fight , and last nights game where he was nervous and a train wreck . Which player is he?
We always say we will have patience with our youth here, but I don't really see it. It is not the kids fault that previous mgmt screwed up. We should be introducing one rookie a year maybe to come in and play sheltered minutes and learn the game. We had 10 kids under 24 in our line up last night . Hutton playing top pairing D in his first year.

Absolutely right, has a bit of chip on his shoulder because he doesnt want to just be known as Tryamkin's translator, a good point. |

The goal that Hutton was flat footed was because of a bad turnover by Tanev. Hutton was not expecting that bonehead pass from a top vet |

I know they are still trying to find a resolution, but I think anyone with a No-Trade clause should be eligible for the draft and anyone with a No-Movement clause should be allowed to stay, though everyone with it needs to submit whether they want to enact it or not. That way clubs dont need to go ask anyone if they want to be made eligible, force anyone with it to tell the team they want their NMC to be upheld |

Watching it the first time, thought Boedker was going to back hand it back to whoever was trailing, but still had it and was able to get the shot off. a lot happening at once.
they showed Hutton on the bench after the goal, wasn't smiling... I think a little adversity is good for him, motivate him to get better. best Canuck d prospect we have seen in some time. |

I agree, also Miller should've had it and then we would be saying Hutton recovered pretty well and kept him to the outside to mitigate the chance |

Oh I know, but I'm just wondering what happens when Edler comes back, I hope WD scratches Weber/Bart and rides Pedan/Freak show. I'd love to see more of these guys exposed to top level players, we might as well use these losses to develop some bottom pairing guys going into next season. I like Hutton on the top pairing, more so than Edler, even with his rookie mistakes, he makes less glaring ones than Edler on a nightly basis.
I'm hoping WD leaves Hutton as our #2 (though I think Edler is out for the rest of the season? so this is a moot point I suppose) even going into next season, just to get rid of those college growing pains he has, cause he is just a phenomenal puck mover on the back end.
Hutton-Tanev
Edler-Free Agent Righty (or a trade i suppose)
Tryamkin-sbisa
Biega-Pedan (depth)
Would love to see that next year. I just cant stand Edler in our top 2.

I don't care what anyone says. 2 soft goals on routine shots . The game was on Miller. Analyze it as you want , but you remove those two easy goals it is 1-1 with 10 friggen kids in the lineup |

Edler is not coming back this year.
Benning still has 15 games to see how this squad plays. It's a beautiful thing

it takes a lot to get him to not smile
I think so too, I think this offseason will be huge for him getting this taste of big minutes and top 4 will have him better prepared for next season |
