3rd in the division with two games in hand on the 2nd place team you're 3pts back from is an absolute failure and unacceptable - eichiefs9
Honestly, I think both the Rangers and Isles are slightly under performing so far, but they are both in the playoffs right now and thats all that matters. Brooks and the rest of the hockey writers could go suck a Richard.

Yeah I'm not lauding the Isles season to-date as a glaring success, but to say that 25 other teams have had less-disappointing seasons than the Islanders is moronic. |

Both are under performing and Larry was exaggerating things with the Isles, but he is not totally off. |

If we continue playing like we were before the allstar break we may find ourselves in big trouble real quick games in hand or not. The way the Pens have been playing we better get our shat together real quick. I'm hoping we see a new team post all-star break. |

Off the top of my head
Penguins
Flames
Ducks
Rangers
Blue jackets
Canadiens
Wild
Preds
Far worse - Dan Petriw
Maybe disappointing, but those 2 are exactly where I thought they'd be.
The Habs have been without their best player for 30 games.
LB had the Rangers as the 8th best team in the league but only, in so many words, by default.

To me there is a huge difference between under performing and disappointing. Currently 2/3rd in the division in a playoff spot is not disappointing. |

Says the fan who's team has had playoff success. I'll say the Isles should be better and especially with the goaltending they have gotten. It's not panic time, but it's not time to get lazy either. Things can turn for the worst quickly. |

This line has worked on your GF since you started dating. - Cptmjl
In this case, that line is his waistline. Everything above is disappointing and everything below is under-performing. |

I can't shake the feeling that they will drop down and end up the 6th or 7th seed. I'm still pretty confident they will get in. |

The Rangers have shown the ability to overachieve, in the past two seasons in particular.
Our team has not in I can't remember how long. |

At which point they will be doing no media until Free Agency, followed by the draft.
This team is operated like the old USSR. |

Rags have 3 more ROW's than us. No one is catching the Capitals. I wouldn't keep your hopes up for home-ice...it's highly unlikely.
We are 6th in the conference and only 4 points separate us from 12th place. 2 games in hand isn't a great thing when you have to play 8 games in 2 weeks—plus there will be the Philly makeup game sometime added in.
Besides Caps, Tampa & Panthers, no one in the East is doing much worth celebrating.
Montreal will get better whenever Price returns.
This team is not even a lock for the playoffs—given our coaching and injury situation.
I wouldn't expect better than .500 hockey the rest of the way. History trends to the team playing below .500 down the stretch.
Oh, and there's a chance we could lose KO before the end of the season, though he may be one of the few players really playing hard, as it will impact his next contract with another team.

There is zero chance they are trading Okposo before the season ends.
So the Rangers have 3 more ROW, who cares? That only matters if we finish the season exactly tied with them. Worry about that if it's a possibility with 3 games left.
Otherwise, we're 3pts behind them with two games in hand. Let's not pretend that they're playing out of their minds either. I'd say that their February schedule is harder than ours also.
Anything is possible, but there is plenty of season left to play and we're only getting healthier. |

You and I have a differing view on how to interpret the facts & possibilities of this team, though you did contradict yourself, above. I will be more glass-is-half-full next season with new owners and hopefully a new GM and coaches. Until then, there is zero reason to expect better from this team as they do not deserve our optimism. |
