What happens to the Hawks if they're not cap compliant by the start of the season? Anyone anyone - BetweenTheDots
Won't happen. Why worry about it? Team would be fined and most likely have to forfeit games. |

Schlitz - the beer that made Milwaukee famous.
Humorous post Alphons - RickJ
You can connect the dots ..Hawks are stuck so "other" names are whispered about, after Crawford next logical choice is Seabrook....I'm not sure who would be next but I knew only a matter of time until I heard Seabrook's name, actually took a couple of weeks longer than I thought.

I agree with you on the surface, but define "prospects with upside"...there are people here who think Marko Dano is another Andrew Shaw with a bit more skill!!! IMO, Dano has demonstrated skill and offensive zone domination that few in the NHL can match, his ability is very real to see...let's say a "Dano-like" DMan as part of a deal to replace Seabrook...that's what Bowman is looking at. - MexicoHawk
And Dano has done it in the NHL. He had the 6th highest PPG from February on against NHL competition. That makes him more than a prospect. He still needs to demonstrate he can maintain that level of play so there is a risk but he isn't the equivalent of a Nurse. |

I am starting to think your right and within reason everyone is on a ledge at the right price. - Colbyboy
Yep, everyone but either Tazer or Keith...I could even see a massive blockbuster, as a last option, of moving Kane to Buffalo! |

I agree 100%. Of course Wayne Gretzky was traded in his prime but there is no reason why Seabrook should be traded. HEART and SOUL type guy. You can never have too many of them. - nurk
Not slamming you for the reference but it is overused....
There were many reasons why Gretzky was traded but first and foremost was...
HE WANTED TO BE TRADED TO LA.

Nobody really wants to trade Seabrook, to me, 1000 to 1 it would even happen. Just people bored cause there is nothing to discuss.
For me its pretty easy you just;
Trade Sharp, Bickell, and Versteeg for whatever you can get.
Resign Kruger and JO
Extend Seabs at the convention;
Repeat next year.
Its not that difficult - vabeachbear
Guilty as charged |

i see seabrook is turning into nick lidstrom as these offers build. - flyershockey
Without a Nik Lidstrom in the league what do you think Brent Seabrook represents? |

i have alot of faith in Stan but i think the rose colored glasses need to come off until he actually proves your theory. - SaskHawkFan
Because he didn't already achieve this with Saad???? |

Exactly. Well, except for the repeat part. That wouldn't be easy. - TTtime
Nothing is easy. Think this team would be better than the 2013 team, and better than the team last year that started the season. Not sure about playoff roster, but pretty close. |

In lieu of Seabrook? Sure - fvineze
It's good to know there are a few guys on this garbage team you actually like...maybe with a few more Cups you'll warm up to the rest of them. |

yes but Saad was the easier of the trades to make. lets see the return he gets for whomever he moves to get under the cap. the we can discuss it. |

Is there a lower limit to the # of players that you have to have on the roster? |

Eventually we will get down to Shaw, Hammer and Kruger being sold off for buttons in order to get cap compliant. |

Where is this much ballyhooed Dallas (snort) deal for Sharp? They wanted to give us all kinds of goodies 3 weeks ago (allegedly)...did they add that elusive top 6 winger yet? NO? Ok good...call Dallas back and say we'll do the deal and we don't even want that much. Unless of course the Dallas rumor was hogwash. |

Bowman will trade Bickell and Sharp for a six pack of Schlitz before he sends Seabrook or any higher profile player anywhere.
Bowman has a cup contending team without Sharp and Bickell....
To do any more damage to the club would be like amputating your arm because you needed a root canal. - Al
Exactly, like he would never trade Saad...
What you need to understand Al is that while trading Seabrook might be one of his last options, ITS STILL AN OPTION because something has to give. You don't want to give Sharp, Bickell and Versteeg for a 6 pack of beer? Then you need to become creative, just like he was with Brandon Saad! Bowman has passed on decent deals for Sharp and Versteeg, this much I know, WHY??? |

IceHogs just signed Mark Visentin. Could be another nice goalie "value buy" - he missed all of last year with an injury, is only 22 years old. 2011 WJC Gold Medal Game implosion aside, he does have legit prospect pedigree. Should be interesting to track. - BreakoutHockey
I agree...a very astute signing. |

well his family was in calgary just days before the cup was won. his wife waiting to give birth. what if he asks to go to alberta to finish out his career. do you let him walk next year for nothing or sell him for a kings ransom now?

Commissioner under Article 26, including:
- fines of $1M-$5M (which count against the cap)
- forfeiture of draft picks (# and type at the discretion of the Commissioner)
- forfeiture of games
- suspension of team employees (including GMs)
- voiding of player contracts IF the player was complicit in the circumvention.
Most likely they would start to wave players until someone grabbed the player off waviers |

Ok I will play. Stan puts Seabrook into the package with Sharp and whoever else he really wants to dump.
What does Stan expect or demand back in return? |

Mark Visentin is a great signing. May not pan out for anything, but a heck of a goalie to take a flier on and see if he can regroup his career a little bit. Big, athletic goalie with good head on his shoulders. |

My guess Sharp did not want to go to Dallas. |
