I'm not being insulting at all, was joking with the Grabner part. I know u need salary relief, that's why I could see something about Frans (maybe).....
Snow played the Leddy trade real well, but you did land an islander top prospect in Pokka and do believe he will be very good. At age 17, Pokka played with men in the Finnish league.... Give the kid time, he'll be paired w/Hammer for u guys - Ur Not Me
I know. You know I'm rooting for you guys. Eventually you will lose the prospect fixation and take the next step. Maybe soon. |

No one here expects equal value. That would be hard to find. 3 cups with the "A".
Too many intangibles to define value anyway. Even defining value by his current point production in the regular season - I have hardly seen a post here expecting a 40 point player back. - tredbrta
ive seen posts (previously) including okposo...lets put that to bed.
what do hawks fans realistically want from isles in exchange for a deal including sharp? more specifically which picks, players, and/or prospect/s
EDIT: you also totally ignored my comment about market value (as has everyone else); just because you a car is worth $100k at some point doesnt mean someone will pay $100k for that car after years of use as well as wear and tear, especially if there isnt much demand for it... |

It's really unfortunate. I work in Boca Raton (40 miles North of Miami). I get out at 5-5:30 PM. I live 5 miles from my house and it still takes me 30-45 minutes to get home. A friend of mine who works here lives in Cooper City (outside Miami). She can leave at 5 PM and get home at 7:30. So imagine trying to make a Panther game from Miami when you have to go 60+ miles on THREE different highways. No way. - Panthers88
Went to the 2013 Orange bowl...Dolphin Stadium/pro player/Sun Life/Joe Robbie whatever the hell they are calling it, is also out in the middle of no where.
I did enjoy the double vodkas, but that stadium needs a face lift.......badly. |

MLB expanded to Tampa after Jerry threatened to move the Sox their back in the early 90s to leverage that dump he calls US Cellular out of the state.
With that being said, the reason they looked at Tampa was all the east coast snow birds and retirees who they thought they could get. instead, those same fans remained loyal to the NYY and Boston Red Sox. All you have to do is look at Tampa's and Miami's attendance in baseball and it's pretty clear.
If I'm a professional athlete I would NEVER want to go to Florida to play. To live? Sure....tax breaks. To play? Nope....unless you are a Miami Dolphin. - SteveRain
I can give you the names of some NHL players that don't want to play anywhere else other than Florida or Arizona -because it's easy street. After he got his $9M signing bonus from the Flyers, Chris Gratton had absolutely no interest in playing anywhere else except Florida or Tampa Bay. He was totally miserable playing for Philly and Buffalo - because there was hockey pressure and it interfered with his golf game. And that's why a lot of the sun belt teams never win - hockey is a distraction. |

U don't get it, do u??? All of us want Sharp but it depends on the price bc the kids are more important than Sharp. There seems to be a disconnect of you understanding what or how the isle fans perceive Sharp.
Nelson is the only priority right now. Nobody is denying what Sharp is or what he can bring, but the isles are built with youth and wont destroy it for a 34yr player who's slowly declining (whether u admit it or not)......... - Ur Not Me
you do realize that Sharp spent a majority of his season on the 3rd line playing a role he isn't suited for, checking. Which decreased his effectiveness on the score sheet. He sacrificed for the betterment of the team this past season. While I understand you want one down year to justify paying a lower price, look at the facts before you claim he is declining. |

I am basing that off of JJ's report this morning. There is no real "proof" that any potential deal for Sharp was on the table last night. Just going off what JJ said this morning. Again, and Please for the love of God hear me people. I KNOW THAT SHARP IS ENTITLED TO DO THIS! I just wholeheartedly disagree with his approach(IF JJ's report is accurate) given the circumstances for both sides. - EnzoD
You disagree with your ASSUMPTION of his approach. You have no idea what the truth is here. |

Cuz, we think a like bc that's what I think also, but the slight issue for the isles obtaining that total cap hit, would be a salary being moved bc isles still need room for Nelson + season..... - Ur Not Me
Package Frans and Grabner with prospects. Use em or lose em. Garth will move the salary he needs to.. he has the luxury of doing it at the TDL. Stan isn't getting taken. |

the better question then would be why was he relegated to that 3rd line role? is it because his skills are declining? he cant be counted on for 30+ goals at this point in his career, so its tough for a team to know exactly what they are getting with sharp. |

Or was he out on the third line because he's on the decline? You can look at that both ways. |

No it's the center of the Maple Leaf universe. Leaf fans don't care about hockey, only the Maple Leafs. |

Just a note: Not sure if this has already been discussed... the Oilers signed Anders Nilsson for 1yr/$1m right after the trade form the 'Hawks. Saw that on the TSN free agency tracker - then read it on Lighthouse Hockey. - puckandweirdo
A one way deal too. Nillsen was demanding NHL time and the Hawks wouldn't give it to him. I hope they wanted this Coughlin kid - have to assume he was a "want". |

The one thing that me and you know for sure....nothing is for certain in the trade market. We can't gaurentee anything. You know what I mean.
PS. Glad we put our personal differences aside. You're bringing a ton to the table today and I'll gladly sit at a table with you. |

I think it's a fantastic deal for St. Louis. That cap hit is going to be a bargain well before the end of the contract. |

It's getting one right now lol. And it's been Sunlife for a few years. It's going to be a brand new stadium. And yes, the stadium is out a bit West. |

Great post. At some point GMs start to cash in prospects to gain quality on their roster. Yzerman and Murray recently have - paid off for both of them. Garth will too. He knows what he is doing. - tredbrta
Yep and this "Cap Hell Fear"? To me it's NOTHING....just the price of winning Cups and rewarding great players.
SURE, some years Bowman won't land the necessary players (Brunette, ODonell, Monty) and other years he nabs guys who can help big time (Oduya, Vermy, Desi).
In the end, a team maxing their Cap is NOT necessarily a poorly run team, it's a team that values it's employees and wants to be the best. No coincidence those teams who pay big dollars are the ones that win the most. It's not hard to understand...Great players = Great Team = Higher salaries. |

Im not on the prospect fixation, I just see my team built with youth & a couple of vets. I wouldn't mind if Snow broke the bank for a young proven F (is my point) over a 33yr old F, that's all. Hey u know I root for the Hawks as a secondary team (huge Kane fan) and respect greatly how management has been able to win in a cap era... |
