Apparently hockey in College is a different game played on sand with scythes, and the purpose of the game is to put a large badger in to a coal fired pit.
I could see hiring this guy even with no pro experience if the game was played on ice with sticks and the purpose was to score a small rubber disc in to a net, while preventing the other team from doing the same. but apparently this isn't the case in college. - MBFlyerfan
There will be drunk frat boys on spring break next year getting arrested for animal cruelty.

Thinking out loud here.....If Hackstol came from the Canadian junior hockey ranks, would he be subjected to that kind of "he never coached pros" scrutiny? |

Funny how some of the same people who complain that they always hire ex Flyers are now complaining about the new hire.
I was hoping for a new coach with fresh ideas, not a retread. I'm happy. - BiggE
Exactly how I feel. You can't have it both ways.

I don't expect them to win any playoff rounds this year. That said, until I actually see how he gets this team to play, I'm not gonna string him up by the thumbs. - jmatchett383
accept failure until the collective says otherwise, roger that. |

Probably not. But they play "real" hockey there, not this NCAA garbage. |

There's ALWAYS gonna be scrutiny from some one, some where, some how. The nature of the beast.

Hextall didn't go far enough. He should have hired Manon Rheaume, the first female NHL coach. Plus she looks (or, looked) good in a skirt. |

Well it makes sense why Babcock was never contacted. When you have Hakstol all locked up, you just kick up your feet, and call it a day. |

So can anyone, with a few descriptors, describe how N Dakota actually played (ie. aggressive forecheck, sit back and counter, etc.)? |

This signing tells me this season is going to be another rough season for us. - arichardson22
Imho it was going to be anyway. The coach isn't really the issue as far as that goes. It's the roster that is the problem. And I still adhere to the idea that it is going to take at least another season or two to fix it. |

Their style was to always lose the last game they played. |

I think they can be better, but not a contender. With a few improvements they can be a bubble team, and maybe even win a round with the right match-up. But it's likely another season with a lottery pick. |

You mean the style that Mike Babcock's NHL teams played every season besides one 7 years ago? That style? |
