This guy comes across as impressive and confident. I've watched several interviews and read many articles. I don't think this guy is in the vain of a Chip Kelly where he's going to reinvent the wheel. But I believe the guy will gel with Hextall. Their going to get players in here that will follow the script. I liked watching the video of him running a practice, open conversations with players, players asking questions and lots of chatter going on.
This is an exciting time. There is real change going on that Hextall of all people has brought over the last year or so.

If he can reach the youngest players on the roster and get more out of them consistently, and develop the kids who are coming, he could win big here
One thing: I do love the fact that he was a defenseman. Maybe it doesn't make a huge difference, but I want to believe that it does matter when teaching

I think that Hextall feels that Hakstol can grow with the team and is open to new ideas, but not necessarily tied to a set of radical ideas that he wants to unleash on the NHL. One thing that the articles and interviews I read today kept coming back to, was the UND was run like it was a pro team, in terms of system and expectations.
Hakstol sounds very much like he's a proponent of a lot of old school ideas-teammates sticking up for one another, hard work and being a responsible two way player, but he also seems to be into the analytical side and stressing the importance of puck possession and being the team that drives the play.
Here's a good read on his path to UND and his background
