Hextall's son played for Hakstol, which is the connection. |

They just had an entire NHL segment with Barry Melrose on ESPN. No mention of Hakstol, of course there was a bunch of mindless drivle about the irrelevant NYR and Henrik Lundqvist. |

What's Hextall's son's connection to being a good minor league player? |

just happy that he approached the statistics department at UND for assistance in incorporating an extensive use of analytics into the program - Crimsoninja
I was thinking the same thing. I hear he carries a calculator every where he goes to crunch numbers. My dream is to hire kid wonder Kyle Dubas away from Toronto. The sky is the limit then.

His one team outshot the oopponent 40-20 and lost the championship game. Other time he lost with .6 seconds left. Lol - Winning

Has anyone broken down the Championships Hakstol has won? Developing players is great but do we want to develop forever with no championship success to show for it?
This is a serious question. - SuperSchennBros

Apart of me is a little sick of hearing the word "Development". Developing is great! The entire organization should have a grasp on this but a winning track record to go along with this would be nice too.
Not to say Hakstol doesn't have one. |

Championships aren't the only way to measure a coach -- truthfully, when you look at guys like John Tortorella and Dan Bylsma, who have each won Cups, and Dave Tippett and Alain Vigneault, who have not (though I think Vigneault's getting his this year), who would you rather have?
I'd argue that success is a direct function of the players you have, and you are a hell of a lot smarter if you have pre-concussion Sidney Crosby and pre-injuries Evgeni Malkin going for you, as Bylsma did when he won his Cup, than what Dave Tippett had this year |

You kind of remind me of that Japanese soldier that kept fighting WWII for 29 more years hiding out in the Philippines because he didn't realize that it was already over. |

I don't know the details surrounding 0 for 7, but seems impossible to fathom having a team good enough to get their 7 times in an 11 year period with players like Parise, Toews, Zajac etc and not closing the deal once. - PLindbergh31

I know what you mean. I think the same thing when you and others discuss Goulbourne, or when you brought up Berube earlier today. It's over. |
