You know what. I am actually ok with this. Brings fresh ideas and was someone who ran a successful program. I am sure Hextall did his due diligence and if people had concerns that Snider would try to buy the shiny toy with his influence I think this shows that Hextall will do things his way.

It's a little odd to go from one rookie coach, to another. If this guy was only highered because he coached Hextall's son, their last names sound close in pronounsiation or because they once met at a neighborhood BBQ, nobody should be happy with this signing.

Right now all we can do is hope Hextall made the right choice. I think a lot of us were hoping to get a guy who had eexperience within this league and could possibly sort out whatever holes we might have, most importantly sorting out the defense.

In my opinion, with the roster that we have, Hextall might be setting up a rookie coach for failure.

Truth is, Hakstol has been closer to the cup than any of the other Flyers lately.

What year did Eakins win an NHL championship? How many NHL championships did Dineen, DeBoer, or Boucher ever win? Yet you had no problem with them.

If anything, those 4 have proven they obviously can't win at the NHL level. Hakstol has a clean slate.

No one has said it yet, but how confusing will this be?? Our GM is Hextall and coach Hakstol??? I can hear it now.. Hextall/Hakstol is incompeten.. GM our coach? GOnna have to be Dave or Ron

The guy ran a successful program. I am sure hextall did his due diligence. He knows this hire is purely on him and will be how people grade him as a gm. Have to let it play out before we just make baseless claims that this guy will fail.

Pretty sure this guy has jam, he sounds like Lavy from the 30 seconds I watched on youtube (he has his own show btw for North Dakota all on YouTube) and he even has Lavy's hair.

So I guess we can start talking about what coaches will be available next summer, since Hakstol wont last past this year......

This is like Christmas Day for about 4 posters in here. They can come up in new and interesting opinions they pulled out of their asses as they act like they have any idea what they are talking about with this guy. But the consensus from all of them is that apparently this choice sucks. This is a WIN NOW franchise in their heads I guess.

Me? I had NO IDEA who this guy was 5 minutes ago. So I will reserve judgement. Though it does seem to make sense from the standpoint that we have a LOT of young kids coming up very soon.
