He thinks he could be a potential coaching gem for us, but we might have to give him time to get the players he wants. Kind of like how Chip had to get his time to get rid of players he didn't like. - 2Real
And I have no problem with that. LEt him give his input in the draft, in trades, in free agent signings. Give the guy what he needs, with players that will fit well in his system. I'm excited.

Fantastic reactions from our cross-state frienemies.
My favorite:
The Pens brought in an unproven coach last year and it gave our best young defenseman cancer. Fully support the Flyers decision.

Both, actually. We couldn't settle for paintless Balor, so we took HHH up on his offer. |

For fans like myself who think there is more development from Coots and B. Schenn, the hire is encouraging. I don't know if it will work out, but I have to believe Murray will be behind the bench with Hakstol. Also, gotta think Mullen isn't going anywhere.
Maybe for Hexy's final act of defiance toward the fan base, Lawson Crouse at #7? |

Seriously? - MJL
Yeah, seriously. Live in fairytale land like you always do. I know having an opinion opposite yours, you facist lunatic, or the rest of assembly line yes men that love all the flyers decisions in this room, will get me banned but I don't care.
Am I allowed to not like the decision? Am I allowed to not have faith in putting a coach directly into the NHL from the NCAA? Something that doesn't happen for a reason. College coaches coach kids. They don't coach men and more often then not they don't know how to coach grown men. All of the big time coaches struggle at this: Calipari, Saban, Kelly and it goes on. There was a tremendous amount of NHL proven coaching out there. Hextall better be damn sure, cause I don't feel like wasting anymore of G's, Jake's, or Mason's prime on questionable decisions.
Btw, Hartnell score 28 (frank)ing goals and had 60 points. Umberger had 15 points. Defend that move MJL. Oh right, one year of contract relief. We didn't want to have Hartnell on this team making 4.5 million and not performing. So we traded for exactly what we feared, a guy making 4 million a year who isn't performing with no out from him. Awesome job. |

I wouldn't even be pissed. Again, if we take any of the top 10 players, I'm happy because they should all be pretty good nhl talents.

One that most think should have been canned this offseason.
Flyers will be having the same internal conversations next year. This guy is going to be in way over his head. |

IMO, Dave Hakstol's coaching resume is far superior than Dallas Eakins' at the time of his hire. - wilsonecho91
