So, can we all agree that Hakstol is a failure at the NHL level?

3 hours on the job and he's done nothing.
Using my fantastic HB analytical skilz, that extrapolates to a horrible season full of failure.

Yes. Guys never coached a NHL game. Last time I checked a 0 means you failed.

Just to have a guy with a ton of NHL experience to lean on wouldn't be a bad thing.

Man this came out of nowhere. Literally out of left field. Pretty stunning.

that wouldn't be a bad choice. not sure murray wants to get on the merry-go-round again though. i highly doubt he'll get another shot as nhl head coach and he might just prefer to stay put with the phantoms.
- hammarby31

I believe Bill has mention once or twice that Murray really has enjoyed his time coaching the Phantoms, but would like to get back into the NHL. I doubt he'll ever see a head coaching job again, so helping Hakstol learn the ropes may be the perfect position for him. Plus he is a very solid developmental himself.

To me I just see this an another step in Hextall's plan of developing through the draft. Even if the Flyers landed Babcock, they are a still only playoff bubble team at best.

Funny how people who seem to be on board with this hire, never mentioned Hakstol in any of their posts prior. Interesting, very interesting.

i'm not enamored with babcock and couldn't give a (frank) that he's not here. in fact, i'm glad he's not because it would just ratchet up the pressure on a team that's not ready to contend. it's going to take a few years regardless of who's running the bench.

i'd ge good with murray rejoining the club.

does it matter if any of us are on board or not?

let me ask you this...if the flyers had hired dave poulin, former long time UND coach with no nhl coaching experience, would you be on board?
