There is a reason he is. I know us fans don't like to admit it but the scouts know much much more then us when it comes to prospects. - Santo_44
I am a scout...
I understand your concern in terms of CHL points but sometimes guys just end up playing better in the pros and points start to show then when they play with like minded players who are always in the right positions!!
Just a thought. But for sure we need a #1C before a winger.... |

No I am comparing the proposals made by the prospective fanbases in these two different situations. Nucks fans were expecting way too much, and some Leaf fans are doing the same now. - Leafs43
ahh..i think kessel fetches a first, top prospect, and young nhl ready player... Guy is a consistent top 10 scorer with a so/so supporting cast. |

You were serious?
Kessel commands a lot bigger package than that especially if they are dumping salary our way. Think Rick Nash deal |

Not signed super long term and he produces bang for the buck when healthy. I think he's be a great fit in Montreal.say a second, prospect and PA Parenteau (for cap relief) - DoubleDown
just cough up the 2nd and be on your way |

And a cubscout before that, so I'd wager.

whats the 411 on marner other then being a dwarf?? - Leafer749
Marner is 5-9 to 5'10 plays a very feisty game and even though he lacks size he makes up for it in grit, will and determination. Plus he's also a London Knight and if Hunter drafted him for his OHL team you know the kid can play!!
Wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs got Marner as a result of Hunter!! |

Sallary dump as in a pending UFA who can be flipped for maybe a 3rd or 4th round pick. Maybe throw in another prospect or change Huberdeau into Bjugstad or Barkov but tpits pretty fair. |

I'm thinking Huberdeau, Gudbranson and a first without the salary dump |

Well we will see. I hope for that kind of return. I can see Phil in Florida. Aperently he was asked if he would like to play in Florida by a Panthers Reporter and his face lot up. Perfect place for Phil. He would succeed. The only thing missing is a number 1 center for him. |

So Florida would like Kessel, but won't trade Ekblad or Barkov (don't blame them), or Huberdeau, Kulikov, or Gudbranson?
What are you gong to offer then? Why even express interest if that's the truth? |

i think he's younger than most prospects.. still only 17? could be wrong though. - orienbrady22
You are correct.... which is why he is sooo good. I can understand why some (Lums et al) would be hesitant.... especially since we need a top end Centre. But let's say
a)McDavid
b)Eichel
c)Strome
get drafted in that order and we sit at 6th... Hanifin
d)Hanifin
e)Marner
Who do we draft then Zacha maybe... but Crouse is completely an option especially since we have a 2nd 1st round pick later on!!

Great comparison but I think with the depth we have in the D position (Granberg, Finn Percy) Leafs can pass on Hanifin and get a guy like Crouse.... plays like Rick Nash.. just not as skilled or as quick. I'd def take him for his size.. 6'4! NICE.
I like Zacha just don't see us drafting him cause he's a little further down the list. But yeah he's good. I was at the Juniors Tournament and he stoud out and played really well for the Cechs! - thehockeygod
You would draft Crouse over Hanifin? |
