Huberdeau, kulikov, 2015 1st for kessel?
- RileyHaze

Hell no...

I say Ekblad, a 2015 2nd and a prospect or expiring contract

Huberdeau and Kulikov aren't good enough assets.....

Trade kessel to whoever you can..pick up (yandle, Marleau,Thornton) or whoever they want to give us.. Just make sure that there is a solid 1st coming back.. Then trade them for Another 1st round pick. Have 4 1st round picks... Heck trade Bernier and phaneuf somehow.. See if you can get maybe a 2016 1st for them so we are stocked for next years draft as well.. 3 years from now they will bloom

Everyone realizes Kessel's 8 million dollar cap hit hurts his value and asking for the moon probably isnt' realistic right now? ok good.

the leafs NEED to draft a centre with their first pick...if they dont then they will have to trade kessel for a young centre stud like a strome or huberdeau.

kessel for strome, reinhart

draft strome or hanifin

rielly reinhart
gardiner hanifin

would look pretty deadly for the next decade

Something people have to remember about the rebuild is that this is still Toronto. If we are terrible and have the young assets to bring in established stars, it will happen. Any plan that takes more than 3 years to get us into the playoff will be aborted halfway through

I like the way you think.. Carlo is great at 6'5 a RD and shoots R... perfect compliment to Rielly.... With Bernier and those 2 we have a great start building from the back end out!!!

False. Kessel has earned that 8 million dollar contract by being a top 10 point producer the last few years. The fact that he is slumping right now might hurt his trade value because the deadline is when teams make impulsive moves. If he gets hot before the deadline he will command a king's ransom

absolutely terrible idea

Ya.. Well I would rather get all of the other deals. Ex. Pho-domi,1st and so on.. But, it probably won't happen

In all seriousness, what would you give up for Lupul?
- mycokes

Not sure. Maybe a conditional pick based on games played ranging from rounds 1-3.
I'm very skeptical about trading solid prospects because we don't have that many.
Maybe Eller straight up? Or is that not enough?

Kessel is a very valuable asset. If we cannot get good value for him, then keep him

Kids big at 6'4 good skater and plays both physical and technical. GREAT forchecker and absolute puck hound!! Solid LW with a slick shot and decent hockey IQ! Can create plays too!

I'd def want him for the Leafs

If we don't win the lottery ideally the Leafs should draft 1 of

a)Strome
b)Crouse
c)Hanifin
d)Marner

with our potential top 4-7 pick!!

Edit - In that order for Need

Just for fun, more realistic trade ideas :

Kessel, retains 2 mill of salary for : Emelin (he need to be included for salary dump), 2015 first, McCarron

or

Kessel for : Emelin, Eller, 2015 first, Thomas

I don't think his value is hurting. It's a bit of a toxic situation in TO right now and everyone knows that.

Eller is more than a little overpaid. (Not that I am in a position to talk with Clarkson on the roster). I would think a little more than Eller would need to come back in exchange for Lupul. Eller and a conditional pick

Geez, some of these trade proposals make Leafs fans sound very similar to Canucks fans when Lou was on the market.

Bernier
- the_eye

I know what you mean but he's better then Reimer and maybe holds down the fort till we find a better #1 (maybe Bibeau pans out)

Bernier been hung out to dry on too many nights...... he'd be better (arguably) if he had a TEAM in front of him.. question is how much better! LoL

This is true but when you are trying to win the cup and your biggest obstacle is bidding on Kessel, you may be forced to pony up. Ultimately teams don't care about the situation in Toronto unless there is only one team bidding.
