I'm not saying Nonis didn't do anything good on those deals, I'm just saying he doesn't seem like the type of guy who can push back on demands very well.

To me it's pretty telling. I agree with you on this. When Burke came out and said those things to me I took it as, Burke's trade-Nonis made phone calls.

They've got cap guys, they've got legal guys... Hunter just needs to be a hockey guy, and have the other guys help him out with the finer details.


Not that they'd be that much more complicated than what he's dealt with in the CHL.

And it's not like he's a foreigner to scouting... But even if he was, the Leafs have plenty of pro scouts.

End of the day he just needs to be a mouthpiece/salesperson.

Burke called the shots, and Nonis just was his secretary calling other GMs (worked a bit better because of Burke's character ).

One of the reasons for Burke leaving/forced to leave was because of internal disputes on trades.

Burke is 100% better GM than Nonis.
