Is this a move that happens in the summer or at the Deadline?
I can see this one as surprising a lot of people of how much they get for him.

Too be honest, if the Leafs want Huberdeau, right now I do it. Huberdeau is a good play maker, but we have a few of those. Kessel is someone Florida NEEDS. I wouldn't give up Barkov, Bjugstad, or Gudbranson... but I would for sure look into Huberdeau and Kulikov in some regard.

my guess they Leafs Land Strome at either 4 or 5.

if mcdavid and eichel are gone you take the next best player and that is hanifin. that's not even a question. If we had the 3rd pick and we didn't take him I would officially give up as a die hard fan. Can easily package Nashville's 1st with someone to move into the 10-19 range and try and grab a center there but you don't not draft hanifin if hes the best on the board.

Also remember that guys like Upshall/Fleischman/Bergenheim/Kopecky are coming off the books. One of them may go Toronto's way in the deal just to help with the salary. They are all UFA at seasons end.

Kessel is making 10 mill this year i believe.. Flordia only has 2.5 in cap space.... seems like a stretch for these two too get a deal done thats fair for leafs.

I mentioned in an earlier thread that Strome and defensemen Brandon Carlo will be the 2 players the leafs should draft in the first round. great pieces to work around. Carlo and Reilly would be a great pairing for years to come.

I agree with you but I wouldn't draft eichel as a Canadian team. I truly believe he despises Canada and would refuse to play for any Canadian team that drafted him. He has mad talent though.

only 8M cap hit, bigger problem is FLA being a budget team. $10M is a lot for any player. if i were TOR and had the chance to get huberdeu(spelling?) i would do it. add in a 1st or a 2nd and a decent prospect and its done. trading Kessel nets the leafs 2 things, assets and more cap space. when you have Clarkson under contract cap space is a very valuable thing.
