Precisely might point. Nah missed the playoffs the past 2 years. Picked Seth Jones and traded for Forsberg and the are 1st in the league. - Champ
Hold on they missed the playoffs not because they were bad but because Pekka Rhinne was hurt that year and they had shiiiiity goaltending..... the Forsberg trade well thats all on Washington.....
Nashville is a good team and has been for years.. they got lucky they bottomed out that year and got Jones.... Josi pans out and Ellis finally starts hitting his stride (too bad he got hurt). They're now finally starting to put it all together.. imagine if Suter had not walked away for free????? |

Which is why, if done right, our rebuild won't be that long IMO.
We still have value on this team. It's not the same mess Burke got handed down from JFJ.
I'm calling 3 years. - Tee-Dot
If they can get a first line centre with size, I concur. McDavid, Eichel or Strome, and the rebuild will be about 3 years. It's the reason that we need to get down to 3 or 4.

My kid was watching his crap, so I just Pvr'd it. - systemtool
Sweet. I think the kid's got potential. I'll leave it at that until you watch it.
Starting to gain some respect for Fish and Bruce now.

It all starts with Rinne. Then a strong D. "Build from the back end" Burke was usually right |

I think if we get down to 3 or 4.. if teams below us want a guy like Hanifin and or Crouse, we can move down a spot or 2 gain some assets and draft Strome at 6 or 7 depending on what teams want what!
McDavid - Buf
Eickel - Edm
Carolina - Hanifin (Carolina needs help on the back end)
Toronto - Pick Strome or move down a spot...
Columbus - Lets say they want Crouse
Arizona - Let's say they want Crouse too but not Strome
We can make a deal with teams and move down and include the point that they can't draft Strome with the pick... and we get him a little lower...
Lots can happen at the draft table!! |

Colorado picked MacKinnon and made the playoffs the year after. Will probably miss out this year cause of all the injuries to their already weak D. |

Yeppers...
Burke was doing great for Toronto (minus the Kessel deal) but the brass ie Rogers and Bell didn't like his harsh ways so he had to go....
I believe the same as Burke build from the back out... however sometimes I feel you need to pick a player based on need not best available.... depending on what you have in the minors!! If you have great scouts and a good farm system you can make that chosen player a real decent NHL calibre type player...
I worry to think what Detroit will have with Mantha...... they're gonna turn this kid into a real special player I think! |

We are not picking top 4. We are not getting McDavid. We are not getting Strome.
You guys could use a tall refreshing glass of reality, because whatever you guys are drinking now will just lead you to choke on the eventual disappointment. |

Det has the best system to develop players. They usually do not play with the big club before the age of 22 |

Did you see Varlamov's numbers he was unreal last year.,.. thats why the Avs made the playoffs and were promptly bounced in the 1st round by the Wild.... losing both games 6 and 7.....
Colorado is a weak team rebuilding.. they got lucky on the back of a great seasonal performance by a mediocre goalie at best. (Im not a fan of Varlamov). His numbers are cruddy this year and look where the team sits in the standing...
Jose Theodore had 1 of those years too.. and he won The Heart trophy... what did he do after that... anyone know? |

Picking 4th isn't exCtly a longshot at his point. Hell we're in 5th spot now, and have a look at the D we'll be icing tomorrow...

Oiler and Canuck fans will feel differently. Edmonton will expect to be gifted all of McDavid, Eichel, AND Strome whilst hoping Hanafin will be a throw-in from Bettman as Vancouver continues to win imaginary Cups annually. |

I'm not too sure about that... we are bad and if we trade more players could get worse...
I think we finish anywhere between 4-6... Strome is a definite possibility if you're anywhere in those picks.. otherwise there are others.. but we will see! |
