You are right... but at the end of the day is the extra $ associated with bringing back Winnik and Santorelli worth it in order to show the kids how to play and conduct yourself in the NHL... I think so.. you just don't buy a guys talents... you also bring them in based on other qualities like leadership and mental IQ
That's why these guys will get more $ but you are right you could always bring in guys for less to play on your bottom lines... but after seeing what they brought to our team... I think moving forward with them isn't bad at all... - thehockeygod
Agreed. Bring Winnik and Santorelli back. Franson too expensive |

Micah just had a kid if I recall, so he's not around as often.
Not to mention having recently choked on a big (frank)ing slab of humble pie |

Come on, Franson alone did not get the leafs a 1st. Plus leafs had to take salary back. That 1st will be somewhere around the 25th-26th pick. - bloatedmosquito
ya I know - that 1st is really a 2nd... heck practically a third.
fact remains Leafs got a #1 for Franson.
can you imagine what the 'Nucks will get for Hamhuis? |

Yeah I wouldn't be disappointed to see them back either. We are all going to have to get used to the mindset that there won't be any "compete for a playoff spot" anymore so I don't expect them to be capped out.

Exactly
give Winnik and Santorelli Franson's money that he would have gotten... so lets say 2 year 6m contracts to each (3m/year) to each of Winnik and Santroelli (on the high end I know but for arguments sake)... Franson would have been 5.5...
Now you have guys like Percy and Granberg and Leivo to fill the voids by players who were traded awayand each of them costs roughly 1m... which offsets the Winnik and Santo deals!!!
Finally sign a few guys like we did with Winnik and Santorelli this year at 1-2m deal for 1 year....
Good teams use their prospects's contracts to their advantage too! |

I don't know but prospects who are ONLY 5'9" or 5'10" apparently aren't of much use.. .so what use would a guy be who's 30+, small and worn out be worth? |

The Habs mods have always been OK with me. I guess I don't troll them much though... considering they are like, light years ahead of the Leafs at the moment. |

this goes back 2 - 3 years ...
the mod used to come into the Leafs thread and ban in the Leafs thread when Leaf's fans counter trolled Hab... but I know I should be more aware of different rules for different groups. |

All it took was drafting Price 5th overall the year the Pens picked Crosby.......
Crazy how things work out!!! |

Florida wants Kessel, but doesnt wanna part with any young talent.
I feel this is the last we will hear of that, unless they are willing to deal a few picks, 2 of which are firsts |
