9 clicks for me.

Oilers won 4 times. Columbus, New Jersey, Carolina and Arizona each won once.

Poor Buffalo.

Not really. At worst they will have the 2nd pick. Eichel is a nice consolation prize.

Minny gave up a 3rd rounder for Devan Dubnyk... who was pretty much on the scrap heap at that point... (of course I don't know if that's a real 3rd rounder) ...

indicates Reimer would return a 3rd or perhaps a 2nd .

But the Leafs gain very little if they have to turn around and acquire a workhorse goalie to cover the tank.

I wonder if Kessel having the same body type as the pillsbury doughboy hurts his value at all?

You may be able to get away with being a chubby fat ass in your twenties but good luck pulling that poop off after 30.

- Sheppy99

You know having fat doesn't mean you don't have muscle, right?

So that Florida "Rumour" includes Florida giving-up nothing to get Kessel. In other words, he ain't going to Florida.

His fitness tests were great at training camp.

Then why does he have 3 chins and is always slumped over out of breath on the bench on the verge of a heart attack after every shift

the point is that if Toronto got Florida's pick, and the gamble didn't pay off for Florida, and they remained the same or even regressed a spot or two, its a huge statistical advantage to have 2 lottery picks. only point I was trying to make. Nonuts has to figure out if Kessel would be enough to push Florida out of the lottery.

By 1 or 2%. Hardly noteworthy and definitely not a huge advantage.

He is the reason I can't pick ManU as my team in the league. Something about him rubs me the wrong way. I am becoming hooked since its shown here now.

don't laugh but am leaning toward Arsenal only because of the little Spanish Italian. lol Love the the energy he plays with.

The way they have transferred the odds this year, it would at least be a little more likely than in the past...

Yeah sure but of the 4 who do you take 1st.. Probably Toews in my regard. Keith was a 2nd round pick Seabrook a 1st rounder... Babchuck was drafted as a D in the 1st round by the hawks before they got Keith. I agree build from the back but we have enough solid D prospects we need help up front.. what says Hunter et al doesn't find a really great Dman with pick 20-30 via Nashville or vice versa... If Hanifin was a RD shooting R I'd say take him in a heartbeat but he's a LD and with Morgan Rielly already on board we can take a flyer on him....
- thehockeygod

This is supposedly a great draft. How does Hanifin compare to Ekblad? If Hanifin was in last years draft where would he be rated.

I agree we have some nice prospects on D but no one I can say is a stud, a sure number one or even two guy.

22 and it could be better still if Nashville drops in standings and higher teams exit first round along with them... But this is best case scenario... They might get matched up with Kings so its possible they take an early exit.

22?

How does that work? Adjusted to the second round?

14 teams dont make it. 8 eliminated in first round.. nashville having best record if they are eliminated first round would take us to the 22 spot... 14+8=22

While true... A team who just misses only has what? A 1% chance of winning?

I'm just not sold on a guy like Crouse who can't keep up with kids half his size. The problem with drafting players based on their size is their main weapon is a known commodity. Sure he can forecheck like a demon when it's against teenagers, but what happens when he's lined up against NHL competition?

I'd much rather a player like Marner who's throwing up two points a game while having to contend with being a smaller frame, and will always be as such so he won't need to change his game or mind. Crouse will need to adjust, and it may expose weaknesses.

As for Hanifin. He may be an LD, but if he's the best player available you take him. I'd take Werenski over Crouse as well. Those two are having excellent rookie years in the NCAA, a league where rookies usually lack for ice time. If having Hanifin and Rielly is redundant a few years from now you can move one for a position of need.

The Leafs need to draft the best player left on the board according to their scouts regardless of position. They aren't strong enough to ignore any prospect in favour of another.

I don't remember where I heard this, it might have been from Mackenzie, but some scouts would place Hanifin as a potential #1 in most drafts. He just happened to be born in the same year as two apparent superstars.
