I am a scout...

I understand your concern in terms of CHL points but sometimes guys just end up playing better in the pros and points start to show then when they play with like minded players who are always in the right positions!!

Just a thought. But for sure we need a #1C before a winger....

So you must be EK's source?

Teams that have first rounders and aren't making the post season won't be giving up those picks

The name that I haven't heard being rumoured to move is James Reimer.
Is this a move that happens in the summer or at the Deadline?
I can see this one as surprising a lot of people of how much they get for him.

- Tom Dusome

Need to keep Reimer... can't be blaming Bernier.

with the tank in full flight (I'll believe that when I see one of Kessel or Phaneuf heading out of town).. the Leafs will go back to 35-45 shots against per night ... and Bernier has proven he can't handle that load over a period of time.

Lindholm missing a game didn't help, nor did Geguin getting hurt. Still, well played

See you in the final???

Good luck! Will be my pleasure beating you again.

I don't think people get the fact that the first rounders that have been traded for are still positioned by the original teams final place in the standings.

With nashvilles pick our best bet would be a first round exit for them.. Dropping it to 26 if I'm not mistaken

It's won as much on the backs of dmen as it is on solid goaltending, luck and depth down the middle.
- systemtool

So we agree it has nothing to do with bulky wingers. At least less so.

Yup sounds right. We have to pray they collapse and lose the conference and or division title

32 for me, and in that span the Oilers won 9 times.
- Woderwick

9 clicks for me.

Oilers won 4 times. Columbus, New Jersey, Carolina and Arizona each won once.

Poor Buffalo.

Those teams who are on the cusp have so little chance of winning the lottery that it's not even worth mentioning

22 and it could be better still if Nashville drops in standings and higher teams exit first round along with them... But this is best case scenario... They might get matched up with Kings so its possible they take an early exit.

I wonder if Kessel having the same body type as the pillsbury doughboy hurts his value at all?

You may be able to get away with being a chubby fat ass in your twenties but good luck pulling that poop off after 30.

I don't know, championships are won on the back of a great defence. This team will toil with top 5 picks for probably the next two or three years. I think if you can get a defencemen like Hanifin early on in your rebuild it would benefit the long term success greatly. Chicago drafted Keith and Seabrook before Toews and Kane.
- BetterCallSaul

Yeah sure but of the 4 who do you take 1st.. Probably Toews in my regard. Keith was a 2nd round pick Seabrook a 1st rounder... Babchuck was drafted as a D in the 1st round by the hawks before they got Keith. I agree build from the back but we have enough solid D prospects we need help up front.. what says Hunter et al doesn't find a really great Dman with pick 20-30 via Nashville or vice versa... If Hanifin was a RD shooting R I'd say take him in a heartbeat but he's a LD and with Morgan Rielly already on board we can take a flyer on him....

They won't get much.
- Pecafan Fan

Minny gave up a 3rd rounder for Devan Dubnyk... who was pretty much on the scrap heap at that point... (of course I don't know if that's a real 3rd rounder) ...

indicates Reimer would return a 3rd or perhaps a 2nd .

But the Leafs gain very little if they have to turn around and acquire a workhorse goalie to cover the tank.

Yea. Odds are strongly in the favour of us or one of the teams ahead of us to win it. So it's not that likely that we move down... but boy would that suck.

Winning it would be (frank)ing awesome.

the point is that if Toronto got Florida's pick, and the gamble didn't pay off for Florida, and they remained the same or even regressed a spot or two, its a huge statistical advantage to have 2 lottery picks. only point I was trying to make. Nonuts has to figure out if Kessel would be enough to push Florida out of the lottery.
