We are fine for now, now is the time to experiment more line combos as MJ has been doing. Maybe call up megna or whoever, THEN we can assess exactly what needs to be done. I would like rattie, jurco etc for Dumoulin though. I've said all along we should keep martin for a cup run, but now I think he can be expendable as well as another prospect/pick for a top 6 guy who will be here the next few years near the deadline. Maybe get Mantha from detroit and put him top 6 now for martin and dumo + a 2nd/3rd? In a perfect world.. but we are fine now, its early, we have guys who can plug in and MJ has been experimenting with his lines already. We have options internally + for a trade whenever that time comes. I have a bad feeling dupes has played his last game in a penguins sweater |

Even if DET would do that deal, which they wont, Mantha is not NHL ready and Detroit would be way over the cap. |

Oh no doubt, I said in a perfect world. That was a pure fantasy move that will never happen
edit: would be pretty cool if he was NHL ready and could slot in with sid or geno... 6'5 |

Best thing for the pens to do right now is nothing. Comeau and Spaling haven't hurt the team where they were playing last night, and have contributed in the top six. If your going to trade the best d man on the team it has to be worth it. Duper isn't easily replaced as it is so can't force a deal out of this. - Grinder47
Comeau, I agree has contributed to the top 6 and no issues him staying up there. Spaling, on the other hand, hasn't impressed me, and in some instances, I thought killed some momentum. I would rather see them stick Downie or Bennett up there and move Spaling back down. |

If it's me, I'm trying out these lines at forward.

PH was killing it with Crosby, not sure why everyone wants to desperately make PH and Malkin work. The last 2-3 games not much has happened. |

The way PM is playing, hard to move him and you dont need to free up the space.
With MAF tied up now...Nino for Dumoulin, Tristian Jarry, 2nd. |

With kuemper and their other young dmen, they don't need Jarry or dumo. They could use Payl Martin right now though which is probably why we mention Martin to the Wild a lot. |

But Backstrom is also 36. It would most likely be Martin to make the move happen, which I am ok with. |

That's a lot to give up for a player who had one 36 point season, no? |

The way Martin is playing, I would not be in a hurry to move him. He's their steadiest defenseman and I'd just as soon see him play out his contract here and try to re-sign him. |

I think I'd rather do Dumo, Jarry, 2nd for Eberle instead... |

So would I, but that would also need to be upgraded to a 1st. I like Nino's contract better. 3 more years at 2.6! |

Bennett should move up with Geno. PH back with Sid. Spaling or Comeau with with group two, the other on Sutter's left.
I would call up Megna and let him do his thing on the fourth line for now. Not much else you can do until Duper undergoes further testing. |

I still like Nino as well. Nino for Spaling and Samuelsson/Dumoulin?
Ya know, I read somewhere last week that Loktionov would already be a Penguin if we werent so tight against the cap. Maybe they will revisit that now... |
