LA won't break up the mix they got going.....
I'd make a hard push for Perron right now, not much else out there of interest
I wish Hossa didnt have so many years left, I think Chicago would let him go cheap - TheGame316
I was hoping the Pens when after him when St. Lois was shopping him. Id still be on board if they decided to go get him. |

My random trade of the day:
Martin and a 1st to TB for Nikita Kucherov. Pens retain half of Martin's salary. |

Yes to Perron.
Yes to Tlusty, Wheeler, Ladd...Kane. - Barnaby36
Edmontons desperate to make a move, He`s the most logical choice to go for. I think Carolina will try to peddle Tlusty at the deadline to the highest bidder. Winnipeg won`t do anything, they`ll roll with what they have

Still think Jurco would be an ideal target.
Marcus Foligno (buffalo), McGinn, or Rattie would be good gets.
We need to fill a long-term hole and I dont mind taking a skill player over a grinder/tweener type. Actually saw an interesting 3 way deal to get us Yakupov but pretty far fetched... - YouMeAndDupuis9
lol. Did the deal it involve kidnapping Taylor Hall, tying him to train tracks*, & using the resulting pressure to get Edm to agree on a mix of Dumoulin, Sutter, & a conditonal picture of Geno with the Cup, should we win it al?
Personally, I just don't see why Edm would trade Yakupov. If the need D or a G, they can move Perron. But I just can't see them giving up on a 1st overall pick so soon.
Joking aside, what was the deal? Proposed trade deals are fun discussion topics.
EDIT - The collective twirling of our mustaches may also be involved in this plan... |

Just throwing this out there, I think its unlikely, but do you guys feel there is any chance Kapanen or Sundqvist get brought back over sooner than anticipated? (not sure if Sundqvist can).
Megna is probably the guy to get the call up. Just thinking out loud.. |

I don't think Martin gets moved now to be honest. We don't really need to clear cap space anymore.
As far as the specific deal, the value is fine but I don't think TB needs defense badly enough. |

Terrible news about dupes. Good player and better guy. There's a chance he may have played his last NHL game which sucks to think about. I just hope he can be treated and live a happy life with his family |

Feel like the oilers killed this deal but Minnesota and Pittsburgh get hosed a bit. I like Yak's potential but not sure I want to give up Paul Martin and a 1st to get him. For Minnesota they get smashed in this deal especially if Martin doesn't resign.

I would do that deal in a heart beat, which also means there is no way either the Oilers or Wild would do it.
Still, it would look great...

In my opinion, Penguins make out like a bandit in that proposal
They get a 21yr old, former 1st overall pick who will be a RFA at the end of this season.
They give up what will likely be a low 1st round pick and a pending 33yr old UFA who likely was not going to re-sign anyway. |

This does significantly change the dynamics that JR is working with now and at the deadline. Paul Martin no longer needs sent out to have enough cap space for a bigger fish.
If San Jose doesn't start playing better, Marleau might be on the block. Not sure what that would take.... |

Why not just send Pens 2nd with Martin to Wild for Nino?
Back to Dupes, I was the probably the first to question his durability this season after surgery, but i never imagined something like this. I feel bad for the guy, he proved me wrong so far this season. |

Former 1st overall pick doesn't carry any weight with me. Martin is open to resigning here. I'd like to have Yak to see if he can find his game here and be a 40 goal scorer like he was projected to be. I just would prefer to keep Martin and our pick for a run this year. |

Or you can look at it like: Pens give up their 1st, #2 Dman for a former 1st with lots of potential but has been pretty much a bust so far in his career and could very well end up in the KHL in the near future.
The only players I would give up Martin and a 1st for would be Kane, Eberle, Okposo, someone like that. Not someone that might be good. |

Besides him being from there, has there been any actual rumors that Minnesota is even looking for another defenseman, let alone Paul Martin? |

Best wishes to Pascal and his family on a full and speedy recovery.
IMHO, it's in the Pens best interest at this time to hold off making a deal for now and allow Pascal's cap hit to prorate itself even bigger. If they make a trade today they can only take back someone making equal or less than Pascal. If they wait under the new year, or TD, the space becomes prorated a grows. By TD they essentially could pick up any forward on the market with the roughly 3million in space Pascals spot opens up. |

Martin + a low 1st would be nowhere near enough to get one of those type of guys.

After watching Martin make one tremendous defensive play after another it's hard to imagine him being moved. I used to think it was a no brainer to trade him, but he's the kind of player you win cups with. |

Not a bad idea. However if a good deal presents itself I take it no matter how soon it is. What I wouldn't do is rush to make a deal because the Pens will still win regular season games. Maybe not at the clip they just were but close |

I've changed my view on trading him as well. Just think a cup run this year involves Martin on this roster IMO |

God, hearing trade talk like Dupuis is already off the books hurts. It's like hearing a widow talk about dating again at her husbands funeral.
This is a tough one to swallow. Dupuis was a class act. |

LTIR doesn't work that way, you don't "bank" any unused cap space.
They likely won't put Dupuis on LTIR until they have too. If you are going to call up Megna or something short term, there is no point in doing it yet until a trade or other injury.
