Too early for desperation. This team could call up Megna right now and barely skip a beat. - usethe1-2-2
I dont know about that.
This is the problem I felt we've been facing. Look, I understand we won last night in Montreal, but we are so dependent on a guy like Dupuis in the top 6 that we end up with both Comeau and Spaling in the top 6. No one was able to receive Crosby's passes last night. Not to mention how having those guys in the top 6 hurts our bottom 6.
Megna is in the same boat as Comeau...decent bottom 6 option but just doesnt have the hands for the top 6. I'd say, if Dupuis is out, we are pretty desperate. |

But only if that is for an extended period of time. A guy like Megna could be a third line fill in easily on this club. There is no desperation in November/December |

1. I think most people here are already on the Beau Bennett bandwagon, but the wagon keeps breaking a wheel, wrist, or having other mechanical defects.
2. I agree with Ryan that Spalling is overpaid, but beyond that I think he has been fine. I know past possession numbers aren't favorable, but I trust my eyes, and my eyes say he's a perfectly serviceable 3rd or 4th line player, as is Comeau. Figure out a way to bump those guys into the bottom six and this team is really sound.
3. I agree Bennett is the obvious internal solution for how to bump Comeau and Spalling down. Even beyond that, the fact that someone is almost always going to be hurt in the top 6 means that they need to get some depth in the form of another top 6 winger (especially as this 1PM presser sounds ominous for Duper)
4. The Penguins should not make Martin any part of an upcoming trade. He is so rock solid back there its crazy. He's also been the perfect partner for Letang. Time to deal a couple of those NHL ready assets waiting at WBS.

Yeah, no desperation at all this time of year. I'd love to see what Megna can do for our 4th line. They seem to be getting rolled lately. Megna's skating would help IMO. |

Have you seen his shooting recently? The guy is just a slow developing forward. If he puts on some more lbs in the next year and works on his game away from the puck, he becomes a very cheap internal 4th line option for next season. |

I agree.... Whatever may or may not be wrong with Dupuis, we are not "desperate". Let things play out for a while.
Blake Comeau, Nick Spaling and Marcel Goc are not Tanner Glass and the forward version of Derek Engelland. We can move guys up and still win some games for the short/medium term. |

Presser at 1... hmmm - nh4442
Because the Pens are the leagues love child.....It will be announced that Gary Bettman has awarded the Pittsburgh Penguins the Stanley Cup for the 2014-2015 season. The rest of the games here on out will be played for fun. The playoffs will be to determine who comes in second. That is all |

I'd say he's a good option this year when Sill ultimately get's sent down. I haven't had the chance to see any WB Pens this year, but I've seen enough of Megna to know he can skate and on our 4th line that's enough for now. Just eat minutes without getting dominated that's what they need to do. |

He has been getting better IMO AND his scoring has kept up w/o bennett on his line. He is leading wbs in scoring and 2nd on team with pts... plus he plays the pk and mayb the pp so there is your pk specialist |

He has proven he can kill 30+ seconds a game on the PK and has enough talent to force play in the opposing end. For 600,000 or whatever he is making, that is perfect for the fourth line. His speed and hands with Goc would be very much appreciated. |

Im going to eat some crow today, Sutturd has been great all year; he deserves credit where credit is due.
That wasn't easy for me to say, so now all of the MAF bashers should suck it up and do the same.

He has been great, but when it comes to him the question will always be can he pull it together when things get tough? Right now he is riding a strong trend upward. The system and new goalie coach seem to be working in his favor and I'm really excited to see that.
But for Marc-Andre it is always going to be about May and June. Same with Sid and Geno and really any other player who is in the category of former champions.
*edit* Kudos to you by the way! You have always been open and honest on here, despite being so dang stubborn. Makes this place fun. |

My guess is that's what the presser is for at 1. I mean he has played 3 games. |

Benefit of playing in a game that you are winning by tons of goals, you can rest your players that normally play 20+ minutes.
Crosby and Malkin played like 16 last night. |

I only meant that if Dupuis is out for the long term, given one of Spaling/Comeau already in the top 6, and because our forward prospects cupboard is more bare that Kim K in Paper Magazine, we become desperate for a winger. If Duper is out for a few games or weeks, I agree, we are not desperate. |

So much for the so called "great goalie depth" in Toronto.
Bernier gets scored on 3 times, gets pulled.....Reimer gets scored 6 times!
Atrocious |
