you guys are a lot like our baseball team. we had that losing culture, had a couple good young guys, but just could never make it work. then we got a guy named aj burnett. burnett is a guy who played for the Blue Jays and was a stud, got signed by the Yankees for a huge amount of money, won a world series, and then got traded to Pittsburgh for pretty much nothing because he wasn't living up to his expectations. he was our first bad@ss to play for the pirates in a long time. the first actually decent player in his prime who wanted to play here. changed the culture, changed the teams outlook and this season we made the playoffs for the first time since the 90s.
oilers need to find that guy. don't know who he is or what the cost would be, but one could argue that culture is more important than talent on a team.
I agree with you, your team on paper is as talented a most teams in the league. but we have seen teams in this league make it work with very little talent. they had some great coaching and structure, to me, the oilers have neither of those right now.
and don't take the "champ" thing personally. I call everyone that. - SuperHenderson13
Well the bright side is that Hall, Ebs, Nuge, Gagner, Schultz all seem to want to be here and have said as much.
I agree that we kind of need to break the Pronger curse! A dman that can be a true top pairing guy and wants to be here. Ference has been interested and has some leadership qualities but he's not a 25 minute a night guy. |

Ryan Jones is just a terrible player |

yea not a huge fan of ference. I thought giving him the "C" was a mistake. give it to a younger guy and let him grow as a person which will help the team grow. |

Wonder how often they swap Gagner for Eberle to get him out there in a good position |

Gagner looks like the same poor defensive coverage self but with an added element of keeps shifting over to the wrong position |

uninspired start for the Pens. - Oneonta Penguin
Did you expect an inspired one when one of the best teams plays one of the worst. |

"Contact to the head" shouldn't be a 2 minute penalty. |

Well, that was a poopload of turnovers by one team, hopefully they get their poop together. Zatkoff looked pretty solid. |

I still don't think I would be comfortable with him in the playoffs. But his play lately has me less worried about it. |

I'm surprised there's not a lot more of this, that was a cluster(frank) of a period for him. He'll probably still finish with a goal and 2 assists in Letang fashion. |
