If it hadn't been an elimination game, Mez wouldn't have played. By own admission was still not close to 100 percent.
- bmeltzer

Bill I haven't read anything to suggest Mez has had any setbacks during the offseason? Do you know of any information? I can only assume he will be ready to go by training camp.

Then they cripple their franchise and the Flyers go about their business and pursue Doan or Ryan.

If Nashville was truly committed to Weber, they would have matched already.

- PLindbergh31

I think it's an overstatement to say that it cripples their franchise. But however this turns out, they will take a hit one way or the other.

I think Nashville is committed to doing what makes the most sense for their future. To me at this point that's making the best deal they can.

I think the Flyers should follow the same blueprint as the Rangers did. They refused to trade Stepan, Hagelin, Kreider, or Del Zotto. I think that B Schenn and Couturier should be on the Flyers off limits list.

Like the Nash deal you can't be afraid to ask for more back like Columbus did. For example if Holmy feels Voracek, Mez and 2013 1, 2014 2 is too much lower the picks or get some other picks of the Preds back.

No setbacks I know of but the concern is that injured area was very precarious spot of lower back.

I'm sure Holmgren stressed who was available during initial trade talks. If Nashville isn't going to pry Schenn or Couturier from the Flyers, the best deal they can make is to accept the four first round picks. Those can be packaged to acquire good players. If they weren't happy with receiving draft picks, this offer sheet would have been matched already.

No, Voracek, Meszaros, and some combination of picks is a much better deal then the four first round picks.
Nashville is looking to make a trade or match at this point.

It's better for Nashville yes, but why would the Flyers top their initial offer after extending an offer sheet? That would be retarted.

Initially I thought the same thing. But if adding Voracek in place of Read get's Weber. I'd be willing to do that. I'm not going to lose out on Weber because I won't include Voracek.

That's a fair point. Would also free up some cap space for the Flyers to pursue Doan. This is going to go down to the last minute most likely. I'm tired of speculating at this point. It has dragged out long enough.

I don't think the trade him after a year scenario works. I just can't see a cash strapped team like nashville paying mill for a year of play. Other thing is I really doubt nashville takes Mez back surgery has hurt players career in the past. My guess is they would want coburn instead. This waiting game is driving me nuts.

that's the thing i keep going back to. weber's made it known he wants to play here. so, nashville's gonna pay him all that $ upfront just to move him in a year? not good for anyone to keep a guy around who doesn't want to be there. that will dog him and the entire franchise all year. and then the questions start again next offseason. they should just move him now. homer has them over a barrel, and i hope he gives up nothing but the picks. i want jake and meszaros. and read. and everyone else.

truth is, even if they were good i wouldn't start watching until mid to late august. i just don't like baseball. you couldn't pay me to watch a losing team.

Coburn has a modified NTC and would have to approve trade to Preds. As London as Mez healthy now! He'd be appropriate substitute in trade.

Per Dreger, Nashville declined the trade proposal by Philadelphia and the Preds countered with Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier +. (via @D_LEED)

As I have been saying, no Weber here. They hold the power. They can fund him and this team if they choose.
