it makes more sense to me to give up voracek then read.same offensive output and a third of the price nashville needs salary.is there any way philly can get both weber and ryan?do the salaries work?if this can happen would be a great summer, but my gut is telling me nashville matches

- richiewinthecup

Cap wise yes. But what would they trade for Ryan if they have to trade for Weber? And personally, I don't trade for Ryan for what it's going to cost.

I think we get Weber, Nashville owners will tell Poile not to match, because in the end it is all about the $$$
- Richieattack18

This is a tight budget team and now there going to break the bank when they didn't want to sign him last offseason for 3 yrs and 21m? I agree. This will strap them for a long time to match.

I agree, if we have to trade more players to get Weber... no shot at Ryan. But if we are to get Weber for four firsts and NYR got Nash for a few backs of hockey pucks... does that drop Ryans trade value? It's possible.

I absolutely love Read because he contributes a lot and is a steal for his salary, but I think Voracek has much higher potential then Read, and is a much better player right now.

Since Nashville needs players to reach the cap, Voracek has more value to them then Read does.

With information about the Weber situation, I expect things to be finalized by Wednesday noon. I'm confident Weber will be a Flyer. I find it comical Meszy all of the sudden has this debilitating back problem. He made it back (no pun intended) for game 5 against the Debs. In fact, I don't there is that much of difference in skill level with Coburn with Meszy. Both can play top 4 minutes, Meszy has a little better offensive ability and Coby a little better defensively.

Flyers offered Read, Mez, a 1st and a 2nd for Weber?
Low ball offer.

- Marc D

Definitely a low ball offer. Would make zero sense to make a better offer after extending the offer sheet.

I'm going to contradict myself. Because I said previously that I don't think that the Flyers should move off of their final offer before sending the OS. But I thought that it would be a better offer then that. But I would be willing to substitute Voracek for Read.

Homer is the man. (frank) Nashville. Let them match and dismantle the franchise by matching. Or except what Homer offers.

I'd replace Read with Voracek, but then flip the 1st and 2nd pick or redice the 2014 pick to a 3rd or 4th.

Then we are back to square one with a solid young team. With cap space to make in season moves

Can't be afraid to lose Weber. We have a solid club.

If it hadn't been an elimination game, Mez wouldn't have played. By own admission was still not close to 100 percent.

i feel Weber is more valuable than any of the forwards available this year or next.....but i also wouldn't be afraid to start the year with my current team and have the room to make moves at the "deadline".

also, not to be crazy....but WHAT IF Chris Pronger can still play hockey come next spring?

Then they cripple their franchise and the Flyers go about their business and pursue Doan or Ryan.

If Nashville was truly committed to Weber, they would have matched already.
