Assuming you had to give up a foward to complete a Weber transaction and that Doan stays in Phoenix like he wants...anybody think the flyers could entertain the notion of Semin...Skills are there but the off ice issues and work ethic I know is a problem...also does anybody think the Nash trade was sped up by word of Weber coming to flyers...just throwing it out there and I dont BTW

You can't?

That's an assinine statement, bud.

- LordStanley88

Why the hell is that asinine? At the time of the deal, the flyers had no clue they'd be taking Couturier with Columbus's pick. You cannot factor Couturier's play over the course of this year when comparing the packages.

You'll notice that I said if he plays with Richards. I see defense as creating offense. Tortorella's system generates tons of scoring chances. It's about having the ability to finish. Which Nash certainly has. Not to mention with playing with much better players on the PP.
- MJL

hell be with better players for sure...i think that him and torts are going to get into it at some point in the year.

however i am curious for those people saying we'll just trade for ryan?? who are we giving up Voracek and Meszaros??? Howson just screwed up maybe we can get the Anaheim GM to follow in his footsteps
- Slammed81

I am sure that is pointed at me. Talks earlier were Read Mab and a pick. Who knows now. Really depends what happens with Weber.

New York is where offense goes to die. I doubt Nash goes in there a pots 40. I expect a slight rise in points but that's all.

Just back from the woods. I have to say I am shocked that they sent Weber an offer sheet. I admit I was one who never saw Homer doing that to one of his best trading partners.

I guess I will be more shocked if there is no subsequent Gratton type deal like Bill proposes.

Crow is pretty tasty if you braise the heck out of for several hours.

I'm going back to bed to try and dream about Pronger getting healthy and playing with Weber. Oh my

So let me get this straight.. I am exhausted, hungry, have been non-stop at work today, Weber isnt in O&B yet (and there is no new news), and now the Rags get Nash for a package of questionable players?

You can now though. And that's all that matters.

The Flyers won that deal by a wide margin.

even with this analysis, you have to consider that a top ten 1st rounder is waaay more valuable than a bottom ten
- Don'tForgetTocchet

i agree completely. even pick 5 is way more valuable than pick 8. but it's really the known (and close to known in Erixon's case) commodities the rangers are getting that make it a better package, imo. picks are great and all, but when it comes down to it, there are a lot more Jiri Novotnys than there are Claude Girouxs

but for real, how do you factor in Couts when evaluating that trade. No one had any clue he'd drop that far

by exaggerating, do you mean claims that howson got "skull penetrated" ?
- Crimsoninja

that would qualify

ironic that many of those people were the same that called shero a genius. guess it all depends on perspective

ok. so when rick nash only scored 26 goals this year and the blue jackets are a much better team, will you come back and say the BJs fleeced the rags?

It's just a feeling. Ryan is more of a practical match for Giroux. Both are young and can grow together and he is signed to a reasonable cap for next 3 years, I think. Better fit than Nash or Semin in my opinion. Rather have Ryan than Nash, Semin or Doan. Only my silly opinion
