A package of four first round picks is a way better return than what Jackets just got. They just got two role players for the face of their franchise. Embarrassing.

This Weber situation better end in a good way.

Cap hits of Dubinsky, Anisimov and Erixon: $7.825M. Cap hit of Nash: $7.8M. #CBJ #NYRangers #NHL

I tried to do that trade in NHL12 on Xbox and it declined my offer. Said "(frank) YOU"...

Apparently not a lot. I would think that is a safe assumption that he took his best deal. He didn't have to deal him.

Think about what the Flyers got for Carter. How does this deal match up to that?

- MJL

Carter didnt demand a trade. wasnt making $7.8 million. and didnt have a list of only 5 teams to which he would accept.

Blue Jackets got more Nash than the Flyers got for Carter; which is inconceivable considering the context of each deal.

His name comes from combining the words How and Son, which comes from the question everyone asks when they meet him, "How, son, do you still have a job?"

So does this hurt/help Ryan's trade value?
- Pat MaGroin

Because it sets a value on disgruntled forwards and Nash is a better player and the Blue Jackets do next to nothing..

Scott Howson is the best GM in hockey. Most GMs only upgrade 1 team during their tenure; Howson enriches 29.

How much leverage did Howson have in your view?

and its clear the offers coming in from other teams were even worse than this one... correct?

- Crimsoninja

why not wait til after the weber decision to see if the flyers were back in the nash sweepstakes?

Howson has a hell of a lot more leverage than Poile does right now. Lets see how the Weber situation unfolds.

As much of a steal as this was for the rangers, i think its gonna cause chemistry problems in the locker room...Nash is going from a completely pampered environment to you must block shots with your face...I think he destroys that team. Torts will be on his last year of coaching over there.

They need him. They're a one-line offensive attack right now.

All true. And all the more reason for Howson to tell Nash if you want to be moved, you better be more agreeable to go to more teams. Because I'm not giving you away. The first round pick is likely a late first round pick. I'm not sure about Erixson. But Columbus didn't get a single top player in return for Nash. In my view, even considering the circumstances. It is a poor return.

you know what, looking at the rangers' roster, they don't really scare me anymore. sure they'll have the best 1st line in possibly the whole league, but i don't see a whole heck of a lot of scoring for them beyond that.

The team that gets the best player usually wins the trade.

Columbus continues to rot in the cellar.
