Kevin Lankinen was sharp in net stopping 40 of 44 shots but couldn't shut the door in overtime to help the Blackhawks earn the extra point. The Chicago defense couldn't seal the deal in regulation as Minnesota scored the GTG with the extra attacker with over 3 minutes to go. Then the Wild deposited the OT-GWG with less than a minute left.

The Wild swept the home-and-home series and extended the Hawks losing streak to 3 games. Next stop for the Hawks is in Denver on Monday to face the Avalanche who are tops in the Central Division and Western Conference. Just ahead of the Coyotes, the Hawks are second-to-last in the division and have the third worst record in the West.

Scoring Recap

* On the 1st goal scored, Henrik Borgstrom first stole the puck to create an initial scoring chance on a short rush then seconds later executed a pretty redirect of Erik Gustafsson's point shot.

* On the 2nd goal scored, the Hawks moved the puck from the bottom right to the top of the key to the bottom left to find Alex DeBrincat for his patented one timer from the bottom of the circle.

* On the 3rd goal scored, Ryan Carpenter intercepted a pass in the neutral zone, moved the puck over to MacKenzie Entwistle rushing down the right flank and took a shot that Borgstrom was able to squeeze past Wild goalie Kaapo Kahkonen.

* On the 1st goal allowed, neither Connor Murphy nor Jake McCabe asserted inside positioning on eventual goal scorer Joel Eriksson Ek who was able to corral a rebound and cash in for the PP tally.

* On the 2nd goal allowed, Mats Zuccarello had all the patience in the world to wait for a passing lane to open up and feathered a feed over to Kirill Kaprizov who snuck in down the left lane untouched as Kirby Dach left his coverage.

* On the 3rd goal allowed, the Wild pulled their goalie and Kevin Fiala was able to tuck a backhander through the wickets of Lankinen in the waning minutes of regulation to knot the game up 3-3.

* On the 4th goal allowed, Seth Jones failed to apply any sufficient pressure to slow down and tie up Marcus Foligno who received Jordan Greenway's pass and fired it into the twine to win it for Minnesota in OT.

Game Notes

* Granted some minutes were in overtime, Seth Jones logged over a half hour of ice time (32:05 including 1:29 on the PP and 2:48 on the PK); also, he sure falls down a lot for a big man.

* Dylan Strome continues to trend upward with his offensive output notching an assist, generating scoring chances using his vision to set up teammates and rattle off his own shots, and winning draws (70%); on the season, he's winning 54.6% of his faceoffs.

* Borgstrom's uncanny ability to be slippery in all zones, take away pucks, and find different ways to create scoring opportunities was evident in the game and he was rewarded with his 2 goals.

Game Notes

* The Hogs were horrendous with their escapability from their end and overall passing for much of the game.

* Michal Teply is riding the hot hand in Rockford with a pair of goals plus a shootout marker; he's finding the soft areas in the slot to get locked and loaded for shots as playmakers find him.

* Ian Mitchell showed in this game his smooth skating and the productive things he can do when he uses his feet to escape the zone and rush the puck up ice; he's also adept at walking the line in his offensive zone.
