There's not much going on specifically with the Blackhawks as the summer lull starts to wind down. Yet, the preseason will start to ramp up soon with announcements of the roster for the prospect exhibition against the Wild and the roster for training camp.

Today's blog isn't a long one but is instead a series of semi-hot takes on the Hawks to perk your interest or elicit your wrath. More takes on other players not listed below will be in upcoming blogs to dissect training camp highs, lows, and everything in between.

In no particular order of rhyme or reason:

* Jonathan Toews will play no more than 60 games this season but look great in the games where he does lace up the skates.

* Kirby Dach will turn in a strong comeback season as an impact player in all zones picking up around 55 points (big points jump next year).

* Dylan Strome will get traded before the season starts for a 2nd rounder + prospect with a long shot for a 1st rounder.

* Alex Nylander will get traded by the trade deadline for the ever popular 3rd rounder.

* Dominik Kubalik will be re-signed to a contract extension before calendar year 2022 begins.

* Tyler Johnson will catch his second wind as a veteran offensive contributor in the 50-55 point range.

* Ryan Carpenter and Brett Connolly will surprise and play reasonably well as 4th liners.

* Brandon Hagel will break out even more with a 20-goal, 45-point sophomore campaign.

* Lukas Reichel will start with the IceHogs but earn a call up then never look back impressing out of the gate.

* Philipp Kurashev and Wyatt Kalynuk will be amongst the youngsters who make it really hard for the coaching staff to cut them.

* Seth Jones will resurge as a top all-around defender in the league to anchor the blueline.

* Connor Murphy and Jake McCabe will form a formidable shutdown D pair.

* Calvin de Haan will remain with the Hawks, stay healthy, and help to solidify the top 4 along with Jones, Murphy, and McCabe.

* Malcolm Subban will be retained and risked to go through waivers if demoted to Rockford to serve as a much needed 3rd string.

* Collin Delia will get traded for a 5th rounder or later pick.

Okay, time to put away the rose-colored glasses. While I do that, flame away!
