Somehow, some way, the Anaheim Ducks keep winning

The Anaheim Ducks won again last night, improving to 19-11-5 on the season and I still can't believe it. I wrote this team off for dead. The amount of injuries they have endured is almost impossible to fathom. I say "almost" because they did this same thing last season. I shouldn't be surprised, but I am.

Anaheim's lost something like 200 man games through the first 34 games this season. Crazy to imagine had they not lost 200 man games through 33 games last season. Yet, somehow, some way they keep on winning.

Trailing 2-0 on the road, in Pittsburgh, the Ducks mounted a Flying-V-like comeback, eventually winning 4-2. It was their fourth consecutive victory overall and sixth straight on the road.

They win with scoring. They win with defense. They win with goaltending. They win in overtime. They win in the shootout. They win when trailing. They win when not on their best. They just keep on winning. Somewhere in the ocean, Dory is swimming in a circle singing..."Just keep winning...winning, winning."

The Ducks have just TWO losses since Thanksgiving (11-2) and they are mostly doing with a combination of smoke, mirrors, duct tape, and glue.

Who remembers the old kids show Fraggle Rock? Bare with me for a moment.

The Fraggles were little puppet creatures that lived in the wall of an old guy. Yes, really. Anytime the Fraggles needed guidance or help they would head to a sentient being known as the "Trash Heap" for guidance. The Trash Heap was a wise old pile of trash and could always help a wayward Fraggle get back on track.

Anyway, my point is the Ducks GM Bob Murray is like a wayward Fraggle. When all seems lost he heads to the Trash Heap and comes back with Pontus Aberg or Daniel Sprong or Carter Rowney. All three, by the way, had a point in the win over the Penguins.

It's more than remarkable. Nobody could have seen this coming from Anaheim, except maybe Murray. The Ducks GM never panics. He just finds another piece of gum to help plug up the leaky dam that is Anaheim Ducks lineup.

Tonight the Ducks visit the Rangers at MSG. Madison Square Garden has not been kind to the Ducks over the years. They are 1-7 in their last eight trips to the Big Apple and haven't beaten the Rangers on the road since 2013. Something tells me that streak ends tonight.

Thanks for reading,
Steve
