In what can only be called a "no-brainer," the San Jose Sharks have handed the "C" to Logan Couture following the departure of Joe Pavelski.

A former top-10 pick of the Sharks, the 30-year-old is coming off a career year. He collected 70 points (27g, 43a) in 81 games. Additionally, Couture led all goal-scorers in the playoffs last spring.

IMO, Couture was the natural choice as captain. He's a vocal leader on and off the ice and he's locked up for another eight seasons. Pavelski wore the "C" for four seasons before free-agency took his talents to Dallas.

"Logan has the respect of his teammates, and we're extremely proud to name him as the 10th captain of the San Jose Sharks." - Pete Deboer

Couture exemplifies what it means to be a member of the Sharks organization. I'm not sure he gets enough love around the league because he plays out west, but man I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. He plays hurt. He plays hard. And he plays for the logo on the front of the sweater. Captain Couture has a sweet ring to it.
