Here we are, finally at the end of our first Expansion Draft. It's honestly been a fun ride and a learning experience. Once again I would like to thank everyone that took the time to send me their own lists.

Today I am joined by koarik91. Let's get to it.

WASHINGTON CAPITALS PROTECTION LIST

FORWARDS

Alex Ovechkin - LW
Nicklas Backstrom (NMC) - C
Evgeny Kuznetsov - C
T.J. Oshie - RW
Tom Wilson - RW
Lars Eller - C
Jakub Vrana - LW

DEFENSE

John Carlson - RD
Dmitry Orlov - RD
Justin Schultz - RD

GOALIE

Ilya Samsonov

---

With this list here are some notable names to look at.

Shane Gersich - The 24 year old hasn't progressed offensively as much as the Caps were hoping but he is still young and has the speed to play at the NHL level.

Brian Pinho - Now 25 it might be do or die time for Pinho to earn another contract. Last season Pinho finished fourth in points for the Hershey Bears and second in goals with 20. Should get into some games this season for Washington.\

Brenden Dillon - Averaged just over 20 minutes a game last season for the Capitals after being traded from the Sharks. Dillon plays a strong defensive game and will usually end up leading whatever team he is on in hits.

SEATTLE SELECTS.....

Brenden Dillon.

My last selection is another defender. Dillon brings a physical shutdown style which will be perfect on a team that will be giving up a ton of chances. Dillon brings far more than just being a big guy as his skating has improved drastically over the past few years and he thinks the game well enough to not be caught out of position to make a big hit.

On top of being a good player, Dillon is signed until the 2024 season at a pretty favorable contract of 3.9 million per season.

Last fun fact about Dillon is he played for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL.

LINEUP

Here it is everyone the official Seattle Kraken lineup for the 21/22 season!!!

Okay, clearly this will not be the roster but that is what I fully expected way before I started this series. It will be fun to see how teams adapt and change over the coming months and how that effects each team's protection lists.

My next blog will go into some more detail about just why things will still change. As always thanks for reading!
