Welcome to the middle of the week with another in the Expansion Draft series.

Joining me today is Tyler, a Sharks fan who is excited to share his list so let's get to it.

SAN JOSE SHARKS PROTECTION LIST

Logan Couture - C
Evander Kane - LW
Timo Meier - LW
Tomas Hertl - C
Kevin Labanc - RW
Ryan Donato - LW
Alex True - C

DEFENSE

Erik Karlsson (NMC) - RD
Brent Burns - RD
Marc Edouard Vlasic (NMC) - LD

GOALIE

Martin Jones

Not too many tough decisions for me for our forwards. Noesen and Sorenson are good depth guys but both are UFA after this season. Maybe one or both get signed to be used to expose for Seattle.

On the defense side, two decisions are already made with Karlsson and Vlasic being NMC but it would be great to have Vlasic waive his. Brent Burns is old and on a very expensive deal but on a bad year last season he still put up 45 points. He will retire as a Shark.

Goaltending is a big woof and I don't want to protect Jones but he is the only option there that makes sense. If Dubby plays well and is extended I would protect him first.

Thanks for the list Tyler.

As always, here are some notable names left open.

Radim Simek: Will likely play some bigger on the left side for the Sharks, likely beside Burns. At 28 years old has only played in 89 NHL games. Makes smart plays with the puck in his own zone.

Jacob Middleton: The 24 year old left shot defenceman should play his first full season with the Sharks this year. A reliable player who has a decent shot, but should not be classified as an offensive threat.

Dylan Gambrell - 24 year old right shot centre who put up 11 points (5 goals) in 50 games for the Sharks last season.

Jonathan Dahlen - Exciting smaller forward who puts up big points wherever he plays. 14 goals with the Utica Comets in 18/19 before being traded to the Sharks. 36 goals playing for Timra IK of the Swedish league in 51 games and has amassed 19 points in the first 9 games this year.

SEATTLE SELECTS.....

Jonathan Dahlen

Yes, clearly I am going for this young prospect. Originally a 2nd round selection by the Senators in 2016. Dahlen can play on either wing and has spent some time at centre. Slick hands and has shown in several leagues now that he can score goals. Might need another full year to develop but there is a decent high ceiling for this kid.
