Knock knock
Who’s there?
Mark Jankowski
Mark Jankowski who?
That’s it, he’s the joke.
Sometimes an obviously bad signing is an obviously bad signing. Mark Jankowski has been a complete dud for the Penguins. Even during these trying times with injuries to the forward group he should not be playing. When you have somebody so inconsequential in the lineup you can look at it as a problem or an opportunity. I think the focus should be on the latter at the moment.
The Penguins have a big unknown practicing with the NHL squad right now and when I say big unknown I mean big. The six foot six forward 230 pound forward known as Radim Zahorna practiced with the Penguins and rotated through the lines today switching in and about with Frederick Gaudreau.
He also spent some time on the second power play
I’m not going to pretend to know a lot about Zohorna, but a quick scan of HockeyDB shows me he has an offensive pulse with nine points in 11 games in the AHL this year.
Does he play center?
Technically, yes! Mark Jankowski sure doesn’t accomplish anything as a center so I see no harm in opening up opportunities for some unknowns. The injuries have created openings, the Penguins have the Sabres for two games in a row, and they have an intriguing unknown commodity in Zohorna. Try it out. You literally have nothing to lose. Mark Jankowski hasn’t scored a goal with a goalie in net since his first shift as a Penguin. You clearly see something if you’re practicing him on the second power play. Don’t do the thing where you play the obviously bad player for the entire year because… reasons?
Release the Zohorna!
